Just curious if one should focus on a certain school or is it okay to mix and match? I'm always having a hard time selecting a spell when leveling up. Any advice?

There isn't any reason spend points in one or two trees rather than just skipping around to pick the best spells.

forcefield, crushing prison are the 2 most obvious choices...
crushing prison to kill strong mobs and force field to save friends under 10% hp
picking up the normal heal is good for saving a teammate that is stunned and can't take a potion
spirit healer is great for group heal and revival
i like to grab stone fist, winters grasp, and mind blast for constant crowd control
rock armor and arcane shield are good sustainables
misdirection and death hex are a good choice to go along with crushing prison for boss type mobs
haste might be good but the 3 spells before it are useless.

So it would appear that everyone normally mixes classes and doesn't stick to a certain one. I just don't like keeping track of multiple types of spells, but on the other hand, I don't want to just buff/debuff all the time. I want some action as well. What about other character types such as the warrior? Is it best to stick with dual-wielding and not open up items in the sword/shield category?

warriors and rogues need to stick to a certain weapon type.
