There are several things I miss. First time round was fine, played ME1 all the way through, ME2 came out so bought it and played it all the way through.

Just recently though, I decided to do them both again since I had already un-installed ME1 before playing ME2, this time I wanted to keep my evil character from the 1st game so a couple of days ago, again completed ME1.

Going straight into ME2 this time though there are some things that I do not think are as good or an improvement over ME1.

1 - Helmet toggle - can't be hard to do, should have been in at release

2 - 1 armour outfit that you change a little - Sorry, I prefered having lots of various uniforms and outfits and being able to compare the stats with them, and equip them on the the move. Same with weapons and the way you fitted attatchments.

3 - No radar and the map is awful.

4 - Many things take a long longer to do now even though they achieve the same goal. Example - J is for journal!!!!!!! ME2 you have to hit esc and then slect journal from the list? why?

5 - Choosing your character class - ME1 did it MUCH better, you could tell from the character alone what class they were, ME2 was just lots of writing. boring.

6 - Still not sure about the 'thermal clips' I mean, how did we go from no ammo but over heating to using clips? never explained storyline wise at least.

7 - Scanning for materials gets very old very fast. Appreciate you did a patch that made the research require less, but still too much of it.

8 - Mako missions in ME1 were a nice change, and missions getting in and out of the Mako gave an added variety.

9 - Still not sure about hitting space to take cover, I suspect this causes the stuck in scenery bug too, since ME1 worked flawlessly for me.

10 - Prefered equipping an ammo type, rather than using some weird magik to change the type already in the gun.

So, thats a few of the things I prefered in ME1 over ME2. Of course, I love both games so please dont take that as a criticsm or anything, and some stuff in ME2 is very usefull, for example

1 - Q and E to finally direct your team where you need them.

2 - Changing material and colour in the armour (should have been outfit too though)

3 - Adding things to your quatars for a personal touch

4 - Shuttle is a nice touch

Just a few of my thoughts about both games I guess.

This has both story suggestions and gameplay

For One, I would like to see the ammo types brought back. I want my weapon to feel like its my weapon. The switch between fire ammo or warp ammo or etc was tedious at best, I loved having my own specialized ammo. I applaud the armor customization but wheres the love for the weapons? I want my weapon to look the way I wanted it. I want to love my weapon the way Zaeed Messani loved his.

ON a sidenote before I go on you had some planets that you were talking about where there is like a massive crypt. Well, I wanna see that planet and what about the reapers....couldn't they convert those bodies into a massive Husk army... I mean you have the supplies right there.

Please bring back Saren.....I know you can. You could easily pay homage to him by having like his downloaded consciousness in the remains of Sovereign. I mean Sovereign could have downloaded it he bacame so much of a machine but have it to whether or not you redeemed him in the end affect how he reacts with the player. I want to know his backstory. Have it towards where some party of individuals have been studying the remains of sovereign and they find a way to hack inside its dead memory and pull Saren consciousness out. Wait omg as Im speaking you could have the whole asking Legion to download his consciousness come into play.....that would be amazing. You could show so much story and internal struggle there. It would make legion and Saren compelling.

and please I want to see the Leviathan of Dis. Please put it in ME3

Majorly, don't make us survey planets from orbit. Boring as is in MS2.. Much rather the amazing ATV that could almost go anywhere in MS1 to explore. And find things. Great mini-game. Just that you made the environments too much up/down. Poor ATV met too many cliffs.

i found that me2 had a more realistic feel to it. for example the holographic diagrams and displays and the converations

but i did enjoy me1's ability to purchase weapons instead of having to craft or find them....

me3 should try to find the middle-ground good graphics and immersive dialogue as well as more customization and ability to buy weapons (make a ton in me3 im tired of only having a few weapons that arn't that good)

as for saren being ressurected i dont think that would be very good

for people with high renegade or paragon scores managed to get saren to commit sucide at the end.

not to mention in overlord (as far as i know since its broken still) the conscious AI is a good example of why it couldn't work. the project wasn't very developed even in current M.E. time.

downloadable conscious would probably better used as a beginning to me3 like you are in a heretic station trying to kill the remaining heretics when you discover their latest project trying to fuse human and heretics together. that would be a better use of downloadable conscious. since starting a game is rather difficult since they are usually made 2 years apart and the graphics and game play are usually updated in that time. making it seem as though shepard is in a all new body and has to train his powers again

I agree I want weapons and purchasing them to come back and I want variety in weaponry

In effect have some sort of nod to Saren I liked him and I know some fans who would want to know more maybe even have like an echo of him. Or briefly play as him like you guys did with Joker. But still I would love to see Legion as well become a more compelling character. I want to know his response to Shepard questioning why did he have a part of his armor..instead of him sort of freezing up as he did.
I wanna also see the Conflict with the Geth and the Quarians arise to a point that would seem opportune to cause confusion for the Reaper Conflict and what about the potential threat of terminus/citadel relations I mean I never got the vibe they hated each other from ME2 I assumed that.

And to the Ending of the game like Im definitely not gonna tell you how to end it but make it feel like this is the pivotal point. I wanna feel the final fight or....the last stand. I wanna fight to the end and I want to feel emotion. I wanna see doom that we wont make it or the hope that we could save the Galaxy. You guys could spin the ending in so many ways. Like do I go down in my ship as a Captain would or am I gonna go out in a hail of gunfire. Make it epic and on a massive scale and keep with the hard choices. Sacrefice is a beautiful thing whether its Shepard's, his friends, or even his love interest. But make it feel like we can help if some die, but If a character is gonna feel real they have to do something they would do without the characters consent whether noble or not.

Let us fall in love with the ending and the characters. I hope you take a thoughtful approach to each character cuz I love each one and obviously if you do make new ones make them pretty cool too.

Finally at least for this one thread.......Make us Cry!!! Make Us Feel. Make us love this game.

1. Deeper romance relationships- both games you talk to them a couple of times then just before the final mission you get to have sex with them... wow bioware you can do a lot better you should like be able to do different things with your romance like take them out on dates and instead of a sex scene before the final mission if you have a romance continued from me1 or me2 maybe  shepard and the romance could get like married because they might die on the mission and a deeper relationship system would help silence the people who said me2 wasnt rpg enough
2. Improved Armour customization- i love the customization for me2 but it can be improved, eg more variety and customizing squad armour that sort of thing and more casual outfits
3. Player Housing- i dont mean actual housing but more customization of shepards cabin and the normandy itself again more rpg type options you know it makes it more personal
4. More action cutscenes- the cutscenes where shepard does awesome things, in mass effect 1 and 2 most of these were in the final mission and i think they should be in more levels because its great to watch a nicely animated shepard doing something heroic and awesome and make the situation in the finale so completely hopeless that when shepard wins (assuming he does win) its an amazing victory
5. Improved interruption system- the interruption system was great in me2 but one thing instead of having a renegade symbol come up from time to time or a paragon symbol come up time to time how about having a renegade interruption and a paragon interruption come up at the same time so it forces you to choose
6. A physical enemy- it was awesome in me1 having saren as the main villain he was just one guy, he had a personality and the reapers were just a background threat, a physical enemy you can dislike is way better than just "the collectors" or "the reapers"
7. Improved Face customization- lets face it, the face customization in mass effect sucks there arent that many options and its hard to make a character that looks good, more hairstyles, more beards etc
8. More set pieces- the car chase in shadow broker was awesome more stuff like that but more length and even more vehicles  like maybe a speeder bike type thing like the ones from star wars, and maybe a free fall section, maybe shepard could take control of the normandys turret and have to defend it like the scene in matrix reloaded, just more things that make you feel awesome
9. improved melee- maybe shepard has been learning a martial art to prepare for harbinger just a cooler  melee system
10. Weapon customization- a la army of two 40th day, make your weapons personal
11. Give Shepard A PERSONALITY!!!- im sorry mark meer has a very heroic voice but every line he says is completely emotionless, and why does every paragon line sound like a question? hes either a naivve idiot (paragon) or a complete ****(renegade) sure maybe sacrifice some dialog options and give shepard more scripted lines so hes actually a three dimensional character and jennifer hale does a good job as female shepard but fem-shep is still very two dimensional
12. Show us what the quarians look like- tali is the best romance option and she obviously isnt ugly because when shepard romances her and sees her face he doesnt even flinch it would just be interesting to see what they look like
13. Hard choices with big consequences
14. Show us Earth- give us at least one mission on Earth, seeing as its likely at least 90% of your players are human we want to know what future humanity is like and that means we want to know what future Earth is like

So thats my long list of what would be cool to see in Mass Effect 3

1. make the text bigger... seems simple and obvious
2. make interupts better- i.e. why is my soldier shep able to do the same omni tool tricks to shut stuff on and off in cutseens as my infiltrater. why did my fully leveled adept fall in the liara chase scene. why is my vanguard with full charge not able to charge back at grunt when he is released from the tank. why does my adept with a sniper rifle sometimes whip out a machine gun in cut scenes. i am a little annoyed that other adepts can use mass effect powers in cut scenes but humanities premier military adept cant... the writing is on the wall
3. faster mass effect powers-. when im in a tight spot i dont want to have to worry about dying before my push power reaches its target... curving around abojects is way less usefull than instant effects.
4. fix the vanguard- i had no trouble making full use of vanguards badassery when it worked, however pieriodically the power wouldnt work, supposedly this power that often lets me pass through solid walls and leap long jumps wont go through a guard rail wtf.
5. fix the maps...all of em- to cluttered, no radar,
6. bigger worlds- i should be able to see more of the citadel in mass effect 2 not less
7. better armor stuff- look bioware just because designers hate making endless amounts of armor doesnt meen we dont appreciate having them, also im very annoyed my fem shep has to ware clunky armor, if im gonna stare at the screen for hours id rather watch her in skin tight leather, like miranda, than clunky plaits wyf
8. earth hello- i wanna shoot geth on miami beach so i can save a sexy and scantilly clad cuban gal from evil robots duh

I only have 1 suggestion for improvement:
Don't release the game until you've worked out ALL the bugs....
Or maybe you should release a beta version with 1 level 6 months prior to release so you can get feedback on possible errors and fix them before the official release.

The most inconvenient changes for me in ME2 are:

1. All the menu keybinds in ME1 just disappeared, are they deliverately trying to make gamers suffer?

2. Radar, almost useless in ME2.

3. ME1 mouse scroll, who got this weird idea to remove it?!

Debatable changes:

1. Thermal clips - In ME1, because of the weird accuracy and aiming settings which made pistols more reliable than any other weapons kind of suggesting the changes in ME2 are reasonable. However, keeping the ME1 overheating setting may break the balance of the game, imaging using M-98 Widow Anti-Materiel Rifle unlimitedly. Using thermal clips also encourage players to use different type of weapon since your preferable weapon is usually used up more quickly. Although, these changes mess up the story line without explanation.

2. Heavy weapons - ME1's grenades are easy to use but lack variorty and fire power. ME2's heavy weapons are good improvements and easier to suit different players' need but the shared ammo setting may discourage some weapons being used, especially M-920 Cain (incredibly hard to charge up to 100%, and may lose all the ammos if you change it for another weapon for next mission).

3. Resource scanning - ME1's Mako advanture gives you more freedom but identical building structures and simple landscapes may bore players. ME2's resource scanning saves the tiresome driving work but remove player's freedom to explore locations.

Mass Effect 3 is going to be better for the most parts, just hope them don't remove any user friendly features like they did in ME2.

Suggestions for improvement hmm well lets start off with the Graphic's on the PC an I mean all of it x_X as it is ME & ME2 were both 360 ports so the PC community got pretty poor low res models+textures, its especially noticeable on NPCs clothing and armor even squad-mates had low res textures.

If in ME3 they actually do remake models and textures for the PC community I think ME3 will be an outstanding game regardless, BioWare's good at what they do which is story telling now they just need to work on there detail, an yes I know the 360/PS3 are limited based on there hardware but that doesn't mean they have to subject PC gamers to the same poor low res textures, its not like my HD4890 can't handle it especially since it runs Crysis just peachy. :P

things which should be included in mass effect 3 is that if there is a team of 3 you should be able to play as different characters which keeps the game fresh, another improvement would be to have more fight scenes because they're great dramatic scenes to have in a game and makes them more epic, a third improvement would be a mission which actully takes place on earth.

i didn't realised how much i like the hanar until they were wiped from me2. in the first game they were wuite dull and "in the background" and such, but thane's story really made me like the hanar as a species.so for me3 the hanas should be brought back, but not like simple npcs pupetting around, but with a big-bang! and i'm thinking of an underwater level in the encompasing.
currently the engine used doesn't allow movement on the z-axis, therefore Shepard can't jump, it is all happening on a 2d plane, even in the cab chase on ilium. so a level that should allow movement in all directions would really be something big. other thn that i really want to see the hanar during a fight in their own element, i'm sure they're deadly! that can also bring a diversified hand to hand combat sistem.

other than the underwater level, there are a few "must be there" suggestions:

- a dance minigame, with different movements for femshep and maleshep. and if not an interactive minigame, at least a cutscene that ends when the player choses so. i hated the short lenght in me, and in mass effect 2 i danced once and it was a disaster, that was no dance!
- some common first names (and by some i mean like at least a dozen for female, and another for male) inserted in the game among the other audio, to blend in the voice acting, because it's weird to hear liara calling the comander by the last name when they got so close and personal, it just doesn't fit (pun intended :P)!
- different walking and movement for femshep and maleshep, because in me2 they shared even that, making femshep look weird when going around doing stuff
