I played ME2 back in February and things were fine, played through the game 3 times and put it down.

Last week I decided to play again, and since I did not uninstall the game, I simply installed the 1.02 patch.  The problem is that now wheenver there are conversations, the speeches will ONLY come out from my center speaker even though I have a 5.1 set up.  This never happened in the past.  And music and other games and applications will properly use all six speakers so something seems to be odd in ME2 itself but I cannot find a way to tweak speaker settings.

If anyone knows why this may be or knows how to fix it I would appreciate it.

Does this apply to all speech or only in cinematics and dialogue sequences? Mass Effect 2 is very cinematic so I wouldn't be surprised if they forced dialogue to come out of the center speaker just like in movies. Outside of dialogue sequences I can hear the dialogue from any direction.



What sound hardware do you have?
