The only way in Dragon Age 2 to be "guns" is that either the dwarfs have developed it or that somebody was brave to steal from the Qunari.

Surely there is a mage out there that saw the ability for a tiny explosion of black powder to propel a peice of metal at lethal speeds.
That mage might be thinking, it tires me to cast 5 fireballs, but for the magical energy to cast one fireball, I can propel 100's of lethal tiny metal projectiles using this fancy new science. *Bam*, no more loading gun powder, I just channel teeny tiny burst of energy into this metal cylinder and feed it with bits of heavy metals.
I actually hate the idea of gunpowder in DA, but if they are going to do it, it shouldn't be in its own little world, divorced from magic, magic exists and can use the same tech that black powder uses to enhance relatively small explosions of energy into lethal results.
No I don't want to see magical machine guns, just saying if they introduce simple muskets with unstable gunpowder, we have realize at this stage of the game, magic might do it better, and would be the next logical step.

people are thinking of guns from periods much later than would likely be present in a medieval-esque environment that the dragon age realm takes place in, most of the cannons would be to bulky for personal use and way to unreliable and possibly harmful to the user to make any inroads into this story arch, if they jump another 800 years or so into the future then maybe lol
Hey, if I could swing a Maul twice my size, I can strap a cannon on my back. I'm going to call it "Ol' Painless"...

Where is my extra dimensional bag of holding? Hold on guys, let me dump these 15 artillery peices out of my backpack, we'll show these Darkspawn.

I kinda wish someone would make an RPG where high technology and magic exist together, like Arcanum (I liked it more for the story and concept than the gameplay though). Maybe they can make a DA spin off series, but in a technology/magic cross over world. (Would be cool to see what Thedas is like industrialized or high tech.
Basically you are saying we need game devs to make more Steampunk or Shadowrun type games. I totally approve.
Get to work Bioware:)
Err, please.
