i like it how most people say the humans...haha typical human response...we are naturally paraniod in my opinion...in ME1 we were/are paraniod that the Council didnt like us...while the turians believe that we were the Council's favorite pet...same is to be said about ME2...while human colonies are vanishing in the galaxy...we think the council is yet again turning their back on the humans...its incredible how naive we are haha...look at the Council...they have a pretty full plate of problems...the citadel took a beating...so repairs are being done...and they are trying their best to avoid a mass panic over citadel space that the attack on the citadel was just an isolated incident...thats why i think they are trying to say that the reapers are a myth and saren was the end of it to build public confidence in the Council...i think the reapers will hit whatever species the hardest who is the biggest threat to them...that being (paragon) the krogan and the Rachni together (makes that a formidable threat to be reckoned with) or (renegade) the humans because the turians lost their numbers in the Saren Wars making human's, Alliance, the biggest miltary stucture in the galaxy...but then again thats my logic so who knows?Image IPB

The Centauri and Narn... wait wrong universe.

Actually, Shepard will find the Reapers'  home planet, but he will die there, and will be brought back to life by the First One, who will convince the Reapers to leave the galaxy to the younger races, and then leave beyond the rim, taking the Reapers with him...

I would say everybody because the reapers want to wipe everyone out.

Here's my guess: the Batarians.

Imagine the reapers finally plodding to the milky way galaxy using their regular mass effect drives, using up most of their fuel and leaving them significantly weakened (do we know whether eezo is naturally occuring? Is it possible that the reapers synthesize it, possibly from organic life?). Arriving on the edge of the terminus systems, the first race they encounter is one that has a major bone to pick with the council and humans in particular. From the council's perspective, the Batarians who were once no more than slavers and raiders have now become a major military force. This also sets up the familiar "council just thinks it's pirates" scenario that allows you to be pissed off at them for ignoring the reapers.

Anyway, the council deploys its fleets to counter the threat, but the Batarians seem to have leapt forward in technology, and the council races have a larger fight on their hands than anticipated. Shepard isn't fooled and assumes that the Batarians have been indoctrinated and are being used to soften up the rest of the galaxy and buy the reapers some time to consolidate their strength. Shep heroically battles his way to the capitol of the Hegemony, intending to release the Batarians from indoctrination, but finds out they are NOT indoctrinated. They are working with the reapers willingly for revenge against the council and feed the hated humans to their new masters (and to save their own asses, of course). At this point you have the option of massacring the lot of them or forgiving them, but their empire is shattered either way from the costly war.

Then you find out how to kill all the reapers, but they are weaker than usual because of their energy expenditures, and a decent sized council fleet can actually stand up to them.

Possible, good guessImage IPB

Or maybe this:

You get the choice to either save a spacestation with a couple of hundred of Asari, or the homeworld of the Vorcha. Which do you chose? Possibly hundreds of thousands of Vorcha, or the couple hundred of Asari?

Everyone is going to have to pay the butchers bill in the war to come but maybe turians will pay the biggest since their fleet and military is the largest, I kinda feel bad for the volus and elcor they are going to get messed up bad : (

I agree. The Reapers would probably want to eliminate the largest threat first. Aside from Shepard, that would be the Turian military. It's a shame, but at least Councillor Velarn would get his comeuppance.

Batarians and Asari, Batarians due to their isolation from the galaxy, and Asari because they are the most dependent on Citadel technology(they found it first).

Ok, the codex clearly says how element zero is naturally created. I'm glad the reapers don't make it, as that would be a little too "full metal alchemist".

Anyway, I don't think the batarian plot line will be the overarching struggle of the game, probably just about as long as it takes to get through Horizon on ME2. I think a good amount of the game will be with the rest of the galaxy squarely behind you as you lead the fight against the reapers.

While all of the myriad possibilities do excite me, I won't get my hopes up for anything too spectacular. I would, of course, love to see planetary invasions and bombardments, I want to experience desperation in Mass Effect 3, I want to feel powerless for once.

I agree, in the up coming war there has to be a sense of being powerless to the onslaught of the Reapers, a fight of desperation and the constant looming threat that the Reapers are oh so close behind you.

I agree with this a 100%
