Anyone know if Dragon Age: Origins will be released with it, or if it'll get it patched in later. Or if it'll get it ever?

DAO is a DX9 game. No DX10, either.

AFAIK there are currently no DX11 cards released (in another month or so) NOR are there any games that support it. Heck, DX10 isn't even the standard yet in the games industry.

So this topic is quite premature.

<cough> all the AMD 5800 line are DX11, and Windows 7 has launched...:wizard:

The question I have is will DAO allow non-standard displays? 3x1 in portrait looks good to me - mind you, they're little 20 inch LCDs I'm thinking about.

Last I checked there are currently two games with DX 11 comapility out. The last STALKER, and some Battleforge thing. And DiRT 2 has DX 11 too, and it'll come out this december. And as mentioned by another poster W7 is out now, although the RC which has been out a little while already also has DX 11. As for DX 10. Its been out for 2-3 years now. So no, its not premature to be asking.

And I myself have a brand spanking new Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 1 GB DDR5 card in my pc. To bad the rest off that old rustbucket isn't up to speed yet. -.-

DX 10 was a joke anyway. Here's hoping DX 11 will actually have an impact on games.

I just ordered a new PC with a HD 5870 after my old one crashed this week :( And that supports DX 11. Yesser.

Actually DX 10 improved especially smoke, water and "light effects". Only problem with it, is that its more demanding on the hardware, and 3d card manufacturers lagged behind on what the actually put into their DX 10 cards. So while the DX10 itself weren't a joke, the effort that was made to try and accomodate for the new shinier graphics was. And you really should look up DX 11, the tesselation alone is reason enough to be exited for it.

There's a vid on Gametrailers of DX 11 Dirt 2 and tessalation and enhanced post-processing look amazing. Not enough to shell out for a new card, but nice nonetheless

That would depend entirely on what you have now compared to what you get for the money you'd have to shell out of a DX 11 alternative. And considering the 5870 is even very close to the 295 GTX dual gpu cards in performance, you'll be getting alot off bang for you buck.

so now i have windows 7 with directx 11 i can now not play my new game?

a brand new 2009 game released after directx 10 and 11 with no support lets hope it comes soon.

Update:
Found a possible fix, installing dx9 along side doesnt work, you have to download the dll's seperate and place into windows/system folder, i will update once i download all the dll's and start game up.

You can play the game just fine in Windows 7. It supports DirectX 9, though you may have to download it from Microsoft's website. You don't have to have a DirectX1 0/11 game to play on Windows 7.

By telling it to hurry up or you'll delete it.

Seriously, how can we answer that? You told us nothing. What system are you running it on? If it's not a gaming console, what are the specs? Info. ;)

He's in the wrong forum, digging in one of the oldest, most moldy corners of the cemetery, and added this nothing type comment to the wrong thread. Ignore him, he obviously doesn't want a straight answer, he's almost certainly just a Troll.
