Which has the more active online community, NWN or NWN2? I been iching to give it a go multiplayer-style!

I'd say NWN. Though it's probably worth doing both if you can manage it. They're both pretty different experiences from what I hear tell.

I would try them both. As you may find something you like in either NWN1, or NWN2.
NWN(2) servers arent made around how many players you have, but what type of server is to your liking. Since they differ quite a bit.
Which is off course the charm of the NWN game series as opposed to MMO's who are all alike.

Take a look at the persistent world section to see what's out there for NWN2 a lot of interesting PW's ;D

Just a thought, can DNO or someone put together a sticky on the general discussion forum pointing to the PW list and maybe even just a paragraph or two explaining what a PW is.
I just get a feeling that a lot of people drifting into NWN(2) at this point just don't know about the different MP/PW options, nor even what a module is and how much content is already out there.

That would be a good idea as I am totaly clueless to what you just said.

Gamespy dumped NWN1/2 stats a while ago, so I don't think anybody knows what the playerbase really looks like anymore. NWN1 had the greater number 1-2 years ago. They may still.

I'm probably going to regret this, but okay, I'll do it.

Thanks, oh Wise Owl.
You really do a fantastic work on the forums and the News (as well as elsewhere, I'm sure). It's great having an involved Moderator like you!

Thanks, DNO, that's actually a lot more explanation than I was expecting. I was thinking it would just be, 'hey, we got pw, they're like mini-mmorpgs," but you went and said 'hey, we got a bunch of different mini-mmorpgs, in a variety of different flavors, so there's bound to be one you'll like".
It might be good, too, as NWN2 ages gracefully, to have this general forum be more about the user-created content (pw and modules) than the official campaigns. A mid-life re-branding, if you will.

You know, that finally made me parse his name probably as it was intended!
DNO = DuNniteOwl = The Night Owl!
I always used to mentally say "Dunnit Owl" as in the owl-who-dunnit.
