My Hawke will be pretty cool; not sure about everyone elses.

Coolest hero? Nah.

It's kind of hard to beat the coolness of Rama from the Ramayana. Well, from the version I've read anyway, haven't heard them all.

Rama is up there in the coolest hero category, but not sure if he is number 1.

The Warden could kick the **** out of Hawke.

Logen Ninefingers could kick the **** out of Conan.

Of course none of this changes the fact that Sam Vimes is, by far, the coolest hero ever.

No. What did the warden do exactly that was amazing? I mean, the Archdemon was a joke.

Is that a joke? The Archdemon was easy to kill gameplay-wise, but it's still THE ARCHDEMON! Not to mention everything else the warden did before killing it (I'm not going to go into a list because you're just trolling)

On topic:
I'm actually a bit fearful if Hawke will actually be 'the coolest hero ever', because I'm still quite attatched to my Warden(s), and I'td be disappointing to have them do so much for Fereldan just to have Hawke cast his shadow over it.
I know this isn't 'Dragon Age: Warden's Story' or anything, but i'd still like for my Warden to be remembered and acknowledged, or even better, not put aside at all.

Hawke isn't any more predetermined than playing a Human Noble Cousland. Its the same thing! I don't know why people are getting so bent out of shape.

The difference is that Hawke's "Human Commoner" Origin is the only one you get to choose to play in DA:2.

So yeah, think of it as you picked Human Commoner. You can be a warrior, rogue, or mage (Apostate). Your surname is Hawke, just as the Human Noble's is Cousland and the Dwarf Noble's is Aeducan.

Tada!

Its the old god of beauty. He's like the limp wristed, drama queen of the Old gods.

If the Warden killed, say Dumat, then sure, he's badass. God of beauty? Nah.

I don't like voiced characters, so he will only be cool if he is voiced by teh Old Spice Guy- "Swan dive into the best night of your life."  B)

Sean Connery = Bond <3

I like that Hawke is basically Calahad of the Free marches, and he does it all through his innate bad assery. He's not like the Warden Commander whose capabilities seemed to of been amped up by drinking some blood and passing out.

Hmm, you'd think Hawke would become corrupted and seek to serve the Darkspawn considering that he's going to be shedding so much of that lovely Darkspawn blood.

Seriously, you think Conan and Bond are cool?

They are.

Have you read any of the original R.E.Howard stories?  Conan kicks arse.

Not only that but he's well written and multifaceted in his own right: far from a one-note barbarian. (Even if the stories do follow a pretty similiar formula for the most part).

"Let teachers and philosophers brood over questions of reality and illusion. I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me. I live, I burn with life, I love, I slay, and am content."

Love it.

You know, it's funny -- because I really wish we'd been given the impression that the Warden had been amped up by drinking darkspawn blood. Never really happened, though. No cool Warden powers or anything. Boo.

Just "sense the darkspawn" and "can kill the archdemon".

I wanted it to be the fantasy analogue of Captain America's super soldier serum, dammit! :pinched:

Ha! Why is silence more badass than beauty? You know who the ancient greeks worshipped as the (masculine) god of beauty and the patron of poets? Apollo. And his badassery knew no bounds. ;)

I'm aware that Dumat is the most powerful of the Old Gods/Archdemons, but I'm not convinced how one could divine that from his portfolio alone.

Morrigan thought it made them better in bed, but that´s not useful in battle. Avernus´s studies gave some extra powers.
And what´s the problem with god(dess?) of beauty? The part of Old GOD it´s the important. And dealt with a Blight with only a small team and the ruler of the country trying to kill them.
So far I don´t give a damn for Hawke. Maybe cause we are told s/he is a already a great hero instead of becoming one as in most games. And his career started by fleeing the Blight, which unless being a teenager is not a good first step. I don´t mean scaping Lothering, that´s common sense rather than cowardice, but then he went away from Thedas, or so have we been told.

I'm sure Hawke will be just fine. Impossible to tell yet.

As for coolest ever - my all-time favorite video game character is still Auron from Final Fantasy X.

That's actually a big part of what makes him kick arse. Anyone can claim to be super powerful and smash stuff, but if it isn't well written then it isn't worth the time it takes to read. I love Howard's writing and don't think anyone ever managed to capture Conan with the same kind of power and grace. (at least in the 60 odd Conan novels and another few dozen comics I have read)

When I first heard about a pre decided character i was devistated, but as i read more about it, it started sounding cooler and cooler. As it happens my charceters names of choice are usually Hawk, Hawkens or hawkhan. So now i actually get a whole story made especially for my character so to speak. Any hoo arguements on wether this is a good or bad thing aside. How do you rate Hawke so far. I myself think he will turn out to be one bad arse hero, and I cant wait to start slaying.

Thats great to hear...........one problem, not alot is known of him and I thought BIoWare was all about the Land in wich the story takes place, not Hawke.   I will be honest, he could be good but with a guy that is telling his story and it may be over the top or a lie.....does not seem like one that is.....as you say "bad arse".

From some of the pastiches and the comics, I presume.  Howard's Conan was clever and more than just a pile of muscles, though he was a man of action and some people will always translate that in their minds as stupidity.  I suspect the vast majority of those who believe in that image of Conan have never read a single story, original or otherwise.  I have spoken to some of these people and most self proclaimed intellectuals refuse to give the material a shot because they've already made up their so called minds and decided it is beneath them.  It's the same kind of snobbery that filed all works of fiction away as a waste of time once.
