anyone know if the same gear but different tiers benefit each other?  in other words, if i have a grey iron splintmail helm, a steel bodypiece, veridium boots, and red steel gloves, will i still get all the set bonuses?  also, is anyone having problems with their memory band?  mine is just a normal ring that does nothing.

The Item Set bonus only cares about the item. Not the material it is made from. AFAIK. I have the item set bonus icon when I had Steel body, and virium(sp) legs and hands.

would anyone happen to know where to get the ceremonial armored gloves? i got the armor as a quest reward i think and i bought the boots off of some merchant. if theres a helmet id like to know where that is too.
