Now out on Xbox 360 for 160MSP

And now out for PC !!!

Christina Norman just gave a blog post on the virtues of each of the new weapons

Secrets of the Firepower Pack - giantbomb

When a "heavy" pistol won't do the job, the Phalanx brings the bang! It hits like a hand cannon and features an integral laser sight for a whole new aiming experience! Ever wanted a sniper rifle without the scope or an assault rifle without the recoil? The Mattock heavy rifle is a hybrid of the two, a semi-auto beast usable with any class with an assault rifle skill! The Geth Plasma Shotgun is a three-barreled monster that creates plasma the right way -- on impact! Charge it up for even greater damage, or blast away rapid-fire at longer ranges than normal shotguns

In short:

=====================

--------------------------------------------------
Mattock Heavy Rifle-

Shepard,
Miranda has been working with EDI on crunching battle telemetry
numbers, and EDI had an interesting thought. She suggested we may be
overlooking older, proven technologies in an effort to provide you with
state-of-the-art. Normally, I wouldn't give much credence to the idea,
but when an AI criticizes you for loving high-tech, it gives one pause
to consider.
With that in mind, I delivered a few heavy rifles, the Mattocks, to
the Normandy. They've been modified for thermal clips, but the rest of
the rifle should be the old, reliable gun that colonist militias have
been using for decades. Good hunting.

--------------------------------------------------
Geth Plasma Shotgun-

Shepard,
A cell of ourse acquired an interesting weapon from the geth. It's
much like a shotgun, but it's higher-tech -- something to do with firing
superconductors that create plasma on impact. Its ammunition is more
specialized than those of our shotguns, but it's not hard to make or
modify. I've arranged delivery of a few of these weapons to the
Normandy.
--------------------------------------------------
Phalanx Heavy Pistol-

Shepard,
EDI informed me that Jacob recently acquired some M5 Phalanx pistols
from some friends who shall remain unnamed. I appreciate his
resourcefulness, but had he come to me, I would have made the
arrangements. We've discussed this, and to show there are no hard
feelings, I've had a few more complimentary Phalanxes, replacement parts
for their laser sights, and their repair manuals delivered to the
Normandy. Use them how you will.

Good, good. I do like an arsenal. Still, was hoping for some more armour, even if it meant jacking up the price to 320 or so.

Agreed. It seems a high price for so little.

Mind you, I did buy the appearance pack.

kinda takes all the low level fun out of the game having these weapons at hand from the off. Aye, i could simply go with the regular guns and get on with things, but if you're paying 160ms points, then you're not going to just leave them in the locker. would have been better had these been included in the next DLC meaning your character at least had to put some effort into obtaining them.

Same holds true for the other weapon and armour packs.  Even giving them to a vendor and having to pay credits for them would have been more interesting.

They look cool, still annoyed that you can't automatically test them out.(have to wait for a battle)

Normandy should have a training room/program or something.(I'm out of missions to do)

I've DL but have yet to try them out.

New Geth shottie may actually get me to play a Vanguard and Tali might get some mileage out of it as well.

I'm appreciative of the new guns but whatever happened to the Cerberus = Free DLC equation? Seems like the new strategy is to bundle items and charge for them instead of releasing content singularly for free.

I'm not ungrateful for new content. I'd just like to have been told upfront that I'd get nickel and dimed on DLC..

I've wondered about this myself. My main Shepard has done completed the game and done all the side missions, so basically I'll really only play him again with DLC. The Normandy should have something like a 'holodeck' which can allow you to 're-play' the missions you have done (without the rewards associated with the original mission).

Mind you, that leaves the door open to all manner of 'holodeck' malfunction shenanigans, I personally don't want Professor Moriarty taking over the Normandy....

Pinnacle Station 2.0 DLC for ME2 would fill that niche.

The Cerberus network DLC was never going to be all free. It was only really going to release enough free DLC justify the cost of purchasing the network seperately for those buying used. Basically cerberus is there so that EA would get some cash from used sales.

Sucks for the Cerberus network. Other games charge outrages prices for maps and the like.

Bioware found a very nice idea. Cut original content from the game and sell it in bits and pieces...comes to about the same right?

Didn't show up in my Cerberus Network. Bought through normal Game Add-Ons. Not listed in my "Bought DLC" section of the Online Marketplace list. Stuck in the Reaper IFF mission, can't tell if it worked or not. Even if it does, I would like to see it pop up in the online marketplace list later - I like looking at the whole completed list thing.

Proof that content other than Zaeed and perhaps the Normandy crash site were actually cut from the game? Zaeed and possibly the Normandy crash site were given as 'free' dlc to encourage people to either buy new or purchase access to the network if buying used.
