Nah they dont charge up... or at least I didn't see em do so in the 20 minutes I played.

Sweet on my squadies hands though... :P same as the rifle... damn that sweet rifle, reminds me of HALO's assault rifle.... such a shame for that obscene idea they called an ammo load.

Still pistol is amazing... love it, ....would love it, that is if it wasn't for whoever came up with the bright idea of getting rid of the crosshairs.... can't see where the laser actually is over very long distances... reminds me all over again of Resident evil... where you can't see the little red dot because your too far....

Bioware, is it really that hard for me to expect for you to live up to your old track record? is expecting that you paint the sky blue... because is 8 in the morning too much to expect?

Others might be overjoyed by the mediocre work that your churning out now a days but what happended? is there an infight in the studio and your loosing people or what?

I Cross my fingers, light a good luck candle, and pray that the Lair of the Shadow Broker was actually done by people that weren't on a trip to mars as they were programing it lol.

cheers

Do squaddies ever run out of ammo? If not, Id definitely give them the Mattox!

No, they don't. Plus they are dead accurate with preety much every weapon, so the Mattock, just like the Incisor is a goddamn beast in the hands of your sqaddies.

It's also a beast when you use it with Soldier. I gave it a little test run on the Overlord dlc.
I equiped my Soldier with maximum possible weapon dmg+% armor parts, had assault rifle dmg @ 6/6, took Miranda with me for an additional 15% weapon dmg, equiped heavy disruptor ammo for pwning synthetics and fired the Mattock with hardened adrenaline rush. I can say one word to describe the combined effects: BROKEN. I played on Insanity and it felt like I was playing it on Casual. It took about zero effort to complete the Overlord. Probably the most challenging part was to destroy those turrets wtih the Hammerhead. lol

I also played around with the Geth Shotty with my Vanguard, and came to the conclusion that the Claymore (+ reload trick) is still the King in close quarters combat. Might be better with Assault Sentinels, because of it's great mid range efficiency.

And I have mixed feelings about the Phalanx. It does awesome damage (for a handgun), it's very accurate, but it's kinda hard to aim and hit a target that is at mid-long range. With Carnifex you could easily despatch some targets that were more suitable for sniper rifle kills, but with Phalanx and it's laser targeting, that laser dot becomes really hard to see at that range. So that is the only drawback imo. Other than that it's beast, plus it looks nice and sounds like a true hand cannon. <3

I had exactly the opposite experience, Relix28. My only problem with the Phalanx was the brief delay before the laser dot became visible. Once that happens, I was making headshots on moving targets at long range, and I'm not exactly famous for my eye-hand coordination, as mentioned earlier.

I rarely use pistols. I will now.

The Geth shotgun is an unqualified success. It's better mid-range performance makes Jack and Jacob (and Tali, although I haven't used her with it yet) much more worthwhile as squaddies. With Warp ammo, it knocks Vanguards naked of barrier protection in one blast.

I'm not so thrilled with the Mattock. While it's great for squaddies -- who have no ammo concerns -- an allows great head shots, it doesn't get the headshot bonuses of the straight sniper rifle and has fewer rounds total  than the Revenant has in one clip. However, we all know that there are players who prefer the Vindicator to the Revenant and always have. Well, those types of precision players who prefer to pick up the Widow and keep the Vindicator now have a very strong replacement, IMHO.

I've tried the new weapons, and I have to say, I love all of them.

The M-5 is probably the best, though. A little harder to aim, because of the laser sight, but it's awesome. The m-6 Carnifax is completely useless. This new pistol has more seserve ammo, plus you get more ammo for each thermal clip ou pick up, making it a far more reliable weapon than the hand-cannon. It looks kind of wierd on your hip, since it doesn't collapse like the other ME weapons, for some reason... a glitch, maybe?

The Mattock? A great weapon, about the same as the Vindicater, but a lot more fun thanks to it's higher rate of fire, in my opinion. It also sounds more powerful. Seems to be a rip-off of the DMR in Halo:Reach, but in a good way.

The Geth shotgun... I love alien weapons, and this one is perfect. Similar to the Katana, but it has really good range for a shotgun. The overcharge is a lot of fun, too. Only problem is it runs out of ammo fast. Makes me wish I could get the Shotgun Extra Rounds upgrade sooner, without having to get all those damage upgrades first...

Overall, I give the Firepower Pack a 4.9/5. 4.9 because the name "Firepower Pack" is somewhat lacking in creativity...

i actually made a soldier to get the shotty and rifle, didnt want to get the pack with only using the pistol and while on the topic what would be a better upgrade the revenant (or whichever one it is) or the widow? i'm leaning towards revenant because i already have the aegis pack and i can get the viper so any advice would help

Just tried a few of the weapons on the IFF mission and overall I'm pleased. I used disruptor ammo with all the weapons during test.

The Mattlock is basically a semi-auto beast, I think I may like it more than the Revenant.

The Vindicater was a surprise, wasn't expecting the three-round-burst. Nice.

The Geth Shotty was weird and cool but I still don't care for shotguns in ME2.(imo not effective enough)

The New Pistol I haven't tried, gave it to Tali and she was dropping Husks left and right.

Well worth the price and I'm not the type that goes crazy for this type of DLC.

Thumbs Up.

Can anyone tell me which Heavy Pistol does higher damage per bullet - the Hand Cannon or the M-5?

I am already pretty dang accurate with the Hand Cannon, so I am not interested in exchanging DPS for accuracy.

Assuming the information here is accurate the Phalanx outdamages the Carnifex 109.8 to 85.4.

Normandy should have a training room/program or something.(I'm out of missions to do)

I've wondered about this myself. My main Shepard has done completed the game and done all the side missions, so basically I'll really only play him again with DLC. The Normandy should have something like a 'holodeck' which can allow you to 're-play' the missions you have done (without the rewards associated with the original mission).

Pinnacle Station 2.0 DLC for ME2 would fill that niche.

I've been pitching that for months dude.

What I love is the pack's new addition to the soundtrack --

Ladies and gentlemen, there is now no more beautiful noise in all of Mass Effect than the sound of Garrus Vakarian playing a M-96 Maddox semi-automatic rifle. ;)

The visual effects are nice, too.

(My apologies to the soundtrack artists.)

Maybe its just me, but, by the sounds of it (I haven't tried any of them out yet), these gun seem similar to a few in Resident Evil 5.

This has been a great weapon pack release and worth the BW Points it cost.

The Geth Plasma Shotgun is probably the best new addition, mostly for looks and effects, not to mention damage and range (in my opinion).

The Maddox is a pretty decent Assault Rifle and certainly has killing power, but i'm still not sure if i prefer it over the Revenant or not. It has the damage and accuracy, but lacks the ammo capacity or suppression fire ability. I'll be using it some more to come to a final opinion; it may just come to swapping between them.

As for the M-5 Hand Cannon; for me this was not as cool as it first sounded. While visually it looks cool, as does the laser sight, it is a pain to use in a big firefight with moving targets. Damage is impressive and i will use it some more to see if i can get used to the laser sight when aiming, but then again, pistols really are usually a backup weapon for me.

All-in-all, a very good release.

Nice weapon pack.

The pistol wasn't as useful as I imagined it would be but the Mattock is a strong addition to the arsenal for Grunt and Zaeed.

Right now I only have Tali using the Geth Shotgun for looks and differentiation. It has nice range but things seem to get dead by the Geth shottie and the Eviscerator in equal measure so I can't really tell which is overall better weapon visually.

I'll have to peek at weapon data.

I understand, I am am not saying the vindicator is not.

But why is it, that BIoware has gone so far from the Weapon systems in ME1 as to choose what we like for us?

Vindicator is awesome... but since they are going so much into the shooter genre... they would follow their owns rules, not wipe their asses with them everytime they please.

The weapons in mass effect as others have stated as well, have nov ariety, the next is always better. If you have a mob of enemies, the revenant wins hands down... why? because the vindicator has considerable lower ammo clip.

If I know my rifle's main draw back is its low ammo clip.... then I carry more damn clips. I sitll can't figure out wth is Bioware forcing w/e preconceptions they have on what is "good" gameplay on the costumers, instead of just giving us the damn weapon, and letting us decide wth we want to do with it.

Picture this: THe m-16A2 (vindicator) doesn't have the ammo clip capacity, nor overall ammo load as the ... m248 (revenant). But... I will try to carry as many rounds as I can possible carry with me. But, since "heat sinks" are all the same size... why can't I carry more heat sinks... because I am more keen towards the vindicator and precision shooting. Now please dont give me the excuse to Bioware's bad planning of "hey just shoot accurately"... I do most of the time lol, but is annoying to be constantly feeling that number next to my ammo clip count reach 0, and have to switch to a pistol... in the middle of a fight that is just weird... not to say retarded.

The difference between Light Machine guns and rifles should be to have crowd control, and heavy foes charging. So the times when you realize the difference between the two, is on krogans, husks, etc etc. Not in every single firefight as your count reaches 0 and I gota switch to the m22 or the viper, that is just bad planning.

Not saying give everyone infinite ammo, because some might think that, but if they are scrapping their game, and aiming to be more shooter like, then go all the way, stop dancing between the line of the two generes.
Dont really get what is so hard about not running out of damn ammo, in even a small fire fight against 8 blue sun mercs... Squadmates dont have to worry about ammo count but I do..

Damn bio lol, I waited to get my hands on that sweet looking rifle only to find out, it spits hoylness for 5 secs before running dry.... why do they have to do everything on the edges? why can't we have variety so we can choose from the middle range of weaponry? Why does it gota be, long range, low ammo, or short range, bad accuracy?
There are more than those 2 categories (speaking about rifles of course)

Because if you haven't noticed when you eject a heat sink you don't replace it. Each gun carries its thermal clip capacity inside the gun itself. So you fire until the heat sink is out then you eject it and a new one rolls into place. That's why SMG and Shotgun extra rounds work. I can't help that you feel that the mechanic sucks. From what I've seen everyone enjoys the Mattock (I certainly do on my Adept) despite the limited ammo. You just need to be diligent about collecting thermal clips.

Ammo is not a real issue, and switching weapons during a firefight is not uncommon even in reality. Besides Shepard can't just carry around more ammo with him unless his armor incorporates a carrying module. He doesn't have a utility pack on his back and he doesn't even have pockets. Besides that I have never heard of anyone ever running out of all their ammo. Even using the Claymore on a Vanguard on Insanity I never lost all my ammo because I know that switching what weapons I use is a good idea.

Long story short, you have every right to be upset. However, this was a game play design choice. It tries to make you use your other weapons, and to a lesser extent try to make you make your shots count. I for one enjoy it but I understand why you don't.

.... oh. wait is not replaced. Then that is my bad. Not being sarcastic, but all this time, I thought we carried "extra" sinks in our armor... not sure why then there would be bonuses for them. Like we see Liara, or some asari have on theirs... if we go into battle with w/e clips our weapons hold, then that is on my , honestly I did not ever thought that was the idea. If so :P my mistake.

damn cant edit.

PS. For the record, I have multiple times said I ike the clip system... it just happens that I thought you always carry extra ones.... Like if you leave for patrol with a m248... you dont just go with the Drum that was attached to the LMG... you carry an extra or two... you know... "just" in case is not enough...

Anyone able and willing to confirm a couple of things?

Stabby McGoodstab wrote...

Basic fire with the Geth Plasma Shotgun delivers a payload with a much tighter spread, so it can be used quite effectively at range. The tradeoff is, you don't get the same stopping power at short range.

Wait, what?

Does that mean you won't knock enemies back as much you would with - let's say - a Katana, Scimitar or Lieberschaft?

I think it means that the Geth Shotgun doesn't have a large point-blank multipler. Every weapon except Sniper Rifles deals double damage at point-blank range, and 1.25x damage at short range. I'm guessing it either deals the same damage at point blank, or that it only has a small multiplier instead of the usual 2x.

Can someone confirm whether or not the new shotty's knocks back enemies any worse when not charged?

Also, I'd like to know the damage multipliers for each new weapon.

One more thing I noticed with the Geth Shotty. When I was playing Overlord and tried to shoot some objects like those explosive canisters at the satelite dish or that glass window at the begining of the mission, they didn't explode/break although I was firing (single shot) from point blank range. I had to charge it up and then it broke those objects like any other weapon would.

It seems that this weapon lacks the raw stopping power that other weapons posses (it would also explain what Ms. Norman said about it).

Well, I was thinking of getting it, but the reviews made a "no" to me.

I was waiting for the heavy pistol to be a very good one and the shotgun initially sounded good but in the end not so much.

And about the Cerberus Network thing, you knows what makes me sad about it? Dice still gives free content to Bad Company 2.
