Yes you're the only one. Just like all those people who made this thread before.

DA:O was actually finished many months before it was actually released, but was delayed to port it to the consoles.

So, if they started on it when DA:O was finished (Hell, maybe even before it was finished. Some Devs do that), it'd put about two years between the DA:O and DA2. Also, they do not have to write a load of lore, or make a new engine.

I just hope that they're having money thrown at them in order to offset the shortened production time.

DA2 did not start last month.

He's right. This is an LOLgambit on BioWare's part, because they haven't even started yet.

Those screenshots are all Photoshopped claymation sculptures.

In short, this. I would also add they have a development team already experienced with with that lore and engine.

You know that they are going to take this seriously.

I think the idea of non-stop DLC and fast sequel is to hold our interest on the DA (and ME) series.

The major weakness of Bioware was not having powerful original IPs like TES or Fallout. With DA and ME, Bioware have been successful on original IP so far, and they want to keep pushing them so they get even more popular.

For example, I don't think the weapon DLCs of ME2 make a lot of money. However, they do get Bioware and ME2 into IGN news for a day. And for larger DLCs like L's Song, IGN would give it like 2 news/preview and 1 review.

much as I'm looking forward to DA2 and thus would like to see it soon, I have to admit I'm extremely worried about the fact that it is due soon(ish)

we've seen how badly rushed Awakening was. very buggy (especially if you take into account all the bugs it causes in replaying Origins after installing it), numerous cut-corners and almost no plot-development (if you don't read the books you're left with pretty much no idea what's going on until the final scene) and it'd be heartbreaking to see the same thing happen with Dragon Age 2

How Long does it actually take for them to build a good game? Some people debate that Dragon Age Orgins took four years to make while other people say two. Dragon Age Orgins has been released for about ten months give or take a month.

I assume they started making the sequal after the release of the first game or before it. I for one am happy that a company is willing to bring out the sequal so quickly. Who's to say it won't be as good as dragon age orgins? Just because orgins took longer to take does not make it a better game.

No one is going to force you to buy the sequal. If you don't want to play the game simply don't buy it. But there is nothing that I can see that says working on a game 2-4 year's will make it a better game. It's also the size of the budget. How many people working on it. You can't make a game for 4 years on a lower budget then orgins.

In closing I am "happy" they choose to release it quick. Perhaps it wouldn't turned out any different if they had an extra year or perhaps it would. Truth of matter we don't know and we can't just assume more time means a better game.

It's not like they were just throwing random stuff in the sequal. They have a book based off this in detail to draw ideas and information from to turn it into an interaction on the PC

DA:O was completed by the end of 2008 but wasn't released until the end of 2009 because of console version development. During that time, Awakening was being created and Dragon Age 2 most likely was being talked about aswell.

Actually it was finished around March 2009, but yeah. Your point still stands.

I have no idea if it's enough time to make a great game. I won't really be able to make that call to my satisfaction until I actually play it. I was concerned when I heard about the timeframe but we don't really know enough about the size of the team or the pace of their work to make a call. Nor do we even know when they started on the project.

Yeah, so from March 2009 to March 2011, thats about 2 years to develop DA2 and thats a long enough time i think.

I agree! First off, the toolset wasn't given a chance to bloom! They should've added more expansions first... They should've perfected the sucky game mechanics first with DA:O before putting off a sequel with sucky game mechanics!

But hey its bioware, story is all that matter... So can i buy a book? :D

Even that assumes that the whole team has to finish with one game before moving to the next.

The tools programmers, for example (the guys who build the design tools the other designers use to make the game) clearly could have started working on DA2 before anyone else was finished with DAO.
