According to this: http://www.giantbomb...-pack/30-57229/ Vanguards can overcharge the shotgun, then Charge an enemy and hit them, and THEN release the overcharge from the shotgun. So even Vanguards aren't without options.

The problem with that strategy is it only works when your enemy is alone.

If there's more than one, you're screwed if you try to charge the shotgun again. That and it has much less stopping power than a shotty like the Eviscerator.

Hmm, well  yes and no. Think of it like this. Three bad guys come after you. You shot them to drop their shields, then overcharge, charge in, and shoot the rest dead.

I just don't like small round bursts, like the vindicator. Either I want to anhillate them with a single shot with my widow, or I want to hold down the mouse button as a form of "oh ****, oh **** I'm going to die" mode. If I want to fire three rounds at a time I'll fire the three rounds at a time by myself, thank you very much.

The Vindicator is the only stock AR I can stand. The problem with full-auto is that it's always the same boring trope -- low damage per shot, high spread. It's linear, predictable DPS and it puts me to sleep. So, yeah, you could fire three shots with a full-auto weapon, but they'd barely register and you would have to get in closer than you would with dedicated semi-auto weapons.

If you take a look at the popular shooters of our time, the go-to weapon is almost always the semi-auto, medium/long range assault rifle that rewards headshots. The spammy, spray-and-pray weapons are routinely in disfavor.

Mattock is very overpowered.
In Overlord it took me like 30 seconds to kill all Geth in first room while with GPR and Widow it took me almost 2 minutes. Both on Insanity and all upgrades.
Also Geth barely scratched me since they died easily.

Phalanx gun is good.
It gives really insane damage but fire rate really low. I still think it should have lower firepower.
Laser sights is pretty awkward to me.

I'm not so sure with Geth Plasma Gun, I still have to play with it little more.

I'm totally digging the Phalanx. EXTREMELY handy in nearly all situations in my opinion.

That YMIR Mech would agree, if I didn't blow it sky high.

1) GPR is trash -- it should not be your measuring standard. 2) This is paid DLC, there should be some bump in performance to offer incentive. A larger collection of weapons is useless. People want a weapon that will replace the one they're using to warrant the purchase.

Something cool I just noticed with the Geth shotgun. If you're an infiltrator you can cloak just a hair after you begin charging the gun and you will remain cloaked while the gun charges to full. You can then fire a fully charged shot and you remain cloaked after that shot until you timer runs out or you shoot again. I'm liking this setup a lot.

GPR is great weapon.
I'm not asking for larger weapon collection but this weapon is seroulsy overpowered.

Phalanx has no croshair when you aim and very low fire rate but insane damage. Good balance.
Geth Pulse Shotgun has really long range and if charged can do massive damage, but very low ammo. Good balance.

While Mattock give a lot of damage and great accuracy, decent amount of ammo and is semi-automatic.Please give me one negative about this gun.

The geth shotgun is wonderful. I've been looking forward to a shotgun that can function well at a decent range, and this goes well on the adept.

When Mattock is used together with adrenaline rush that's... well... terrible, terrible damage. Because it fires as fast as the button is clicked even in this mode.

only true if you like semi-auto medium/long range assault rifles that reward headshots.

does semi auto mean hold the triger and fire forever? or it fires every time you pull the trigger?

personally i dont think theres anything the AR cant do.  id rather take an AR that is fully automatic and burst fire if need be, which never seems to be.

the shotty and pistol are ****ing awesome. how come i feel like im the only one freeking out how awesome these two guns are? the pistol might be the best becasue it has a knockback effect on the enemy so as long as you hit them once and you have a few bullets, they are nothing but dead.

ive never said "boom" so much when ive used a shotgun. but its more like "boom." with a period. as in boom, oops your dead. hte geth shotty is too much destruction also known as FUN.

please bioware, allow us to mod our guns in ME3 with sights and scopes. thatd be half the fun of ME3, making a pimptastic weapon setup. do it bioware.

do it.

that's why it is semi-automatic. it is totally fit to any situation you could handle. I love this gun. very handy, and little over power.

I'm melting bad guys with the Mattock on Insanity. The limited carry capacity is a welcome balance - funny how 80 rounds for the Mattock feel like so much more than 120 rounds for the Vindicator. Although with the burst mode, the Vindicator really gives you more like 40 trigger pulls.

Right now I'm using a soldier class [my first chance to use the Incisor, Phalanx, Geth Shotty, Mattock, Kestrel armor, gee I haven't got a single non-DLC item on right now] but the Mattock feels like it would be a good addition to the SMG-toting classes as well - a Mattock for high-intensity short-duration pain with a Tempest to provide longer-duration firepower if you can't reach fresh heat sinks. Like carrying a giant Carnifex.

Mattock should be the rifle in Zaeed's "quarters". It would make so much more sense.

The damn thing makes me want to do another playthrough just to give it some proper love.

I started a new soldier (because I deleted my original one) just so I can use all the weapons, I'm in love with that Mattock motivational because it is so true.

Doing my first Soldier run ever on Hardcore (and very soon on Insanity), and these weapons kick all kinds of ass, especially the Mattock. I prefer weapon DLC over armor packs, so this one was right up my alley. Keep this kind of stuff coming (heavy weapons pack next plz!!!)!

The Mattock is my official Assault Rifle of choice(It's a Heavy Rifle but for simplicity's sake lets call it an AR).

For a gun with such a small ammo supply, it ends up lasting in most fights till you find more heat sinks, due to its strength and precision.

I didn't like the Vindicator's lack of ammo. It always felt like it was running out way too fast.

The Mattock on the other hand, while having less ammo, packs more of a punch with each shot. I love getting headshots with it, and spamming it like hell into YMIR Mechs or Harbinger.

I went up against the Thresher Maw today(Normal difficulty), with Tali and Grunt both going down.

I spammed the Mattock like you wouldn't believe. Twas AWESOME. Probably should've used the Geth Plasma Shotgun. Lord knows it would've hit it from that range.

It can be if you aren't a good shot or don't take the time to aim it. If it does hit though... <3

so the Matock sounds like it does what the incisor failed to do.

Also technically I'd class it as a battle rifle like a FAL, or a dedicated marksman rifle similar to the M14 Mod 0 IRL.
