Little confuzzled on what the Hand Cannon and the new Shotgun will bring, but I don't intend to find out until the Liara DLC is out, which I'll probably buy all 3 of the packs, I've heard Overlord is Fantastic as well, so there's that to look forward too.
I did have alittle bit of MS points, so I indulged on the Aegis pack, and honestly, if they keep releasing that high of quality work, I have no problem paying for extra armor and weapons.

I loved the weapons. My only drawback is the Mattock ammo capacity is too low for my taste
Not to be rude or condescending, but then your aim sucks. More politely, the ammo is pretty generous (especially when compared to the vindicator), and as long as you land your shots accurately, you will not run out of ammo... mostly. But if you prefer an auto AR like the default or Revenant, I can see where you are coming from.

imovie 08.? *facepalm* sorry i just hate macs... worked with them for two years in my film class and in that short amount of time they have glitched on me more often than pcs... but anywho if you're interested the best video editing software for macs is final cut pro, we used that in my class and i toyed around with imovie, which has extreme limitations when it comes to video editing.
another weapons pack idea for bioware. how about the geth weapons pack where it comes with a geth sniper rifle, pistol, smg, and heavy weapon, and hey why not some armor. then asside with that a collector weapons pack with a sniper rifle, shotgun, smg, and pistol. dont release the rifle and armor from the collectors because i feel that they should remain exclusive to the collectors edition
Yeah, I know FCP is better than iMovie, but I gotta deal with what I got.
Anyway, back to weapons.

The Mattock has low ammo, but who cares? The thing is beastly!
I'm not in love with the slow rate of fire on the pistol, but at least it carries more ammo and packs more punch to compensate.

We can't download the content or buy additional Bioware points. We keep getting redirected to the main ME site or to our profile page. Check-out page won't even show up.
Also, we know it's not a browser issue.

So my question as a Soldier player is the new assault rifle better then say the Revenant or even the collators rifle.
Better or worse depending on your play style. Its not automatic, its semi auto, so it works like a sniper rifle without the benefit of a scope. If you're the kind of player who likes to spray, it wont be useful due to its semi-auto firing and limited ammo, but if you're a good shot its great.
The main problem I have with the weapons is the imbalance it forces onto the game. Same with all the armor/weapon DLC packs. I really hope BioWare fix this for Mass Effect 3, assuming it gets similar support, and have these weapons tied to missions or for store purchase.
The Phalanx heavy pistol, for example, is basically the best pistol in the game. It might have an assy firerate, but it does more damage than the other two, and has more ammo than the Carnifex or whatever its called. If you can shoot well it makes all the others obsolete. The fact you get it at the start of the game now doesnt help.

The nature of this game is at odds with downloadable weapon packs, specifically the lack of random encounters/repeatable combat. I've completed two playthroughs and am not about to start a third just to try out a few new weapons. What I'd really love to see are the aforementioned repeated/procedural/random combat encounters that would make the game world seem less dead once you complete all the quests, and that would justify purchases such as this.
Some randomized and repeatable combat encounters on a few worlds would be nice, or an upgrade to the training that includes a "simulator".

So my question as a Soldier player is the new assault rifle better then say the Revenant or even the collators rifle.
I've always felt the Collector's Rifle was a little underpowered personally, so I'd say the Mattock blows the Collector Rifle out of the water.
As for the Revenant, they're very different guns.
The Mattock fires a lot like a Viper with a higher rate of fire, less recoil and no scope. It's similar to the Vindicator in that it's very accurate (though not quite as accurate as the Vindicator); but has a relatively low amount of ammo. The Vindicator is a bit more accurate; but the Mattock can unload more damage, more quickly which really helps when you're trying to drop a tough enemy quickly.
The superior accuracy of the Mattock, like the Vindicator makes it better at taking down enemies who take position and fire from cover (Merc's packing assault rifles or missile launchers, LOKI Mechs Collectors, Vorcha, Geth Troopers and Geth Rocket Troopers, and Engineers). As well as any enemy packing a flamethrower since you want to drop them before they get anywhere near you (Vorcha Pyros, Blue Suns Pyros, Geth Destroyers).
While the Revenant's high ammo reserve and fully automatic fire make it superior for taking down enemies who charge at you (Krogan, Vanguards, Shotgun Troopers, Geth Hunters, Varren, FENRIS mechs, Klixen and Husks) and enemies who can absorb a lot of damage; but who's size makes them easy to hit (Praetorians, YMIR Mechs, Geth Primes).
Think of it like this. If you unloaded the Mattock at a YMIR mech you could drop it faster than you could with your Revenant; but you'd use up nearly all your ammo while your Revenant would still have a couple hundred rounds left.

I'm waiting for the Liara DLC before I start playing with these new weapons. I am hoping they are better than that sniper rifle in the Aegis download.
i'm not too fond of the AR because of the low ammo, but the pistol is great, incredibly accurate, more powerful than the carnifex, more ammo, but a slower rate of fire. the shotgun apparently can kill many enemies in one shot, though i have yet to experience it myself. might be because the only time i go into point blank on an enemy is when i can easily take him on without worrying about dying

Ok better question Would this pack help an insane run shepard =p.
the pistol, yes
the AR, depends on how you use it. but equip it to a squaddie and they have infinite ammo with it, that helps
the SG, yes, especially if you equip it to squaddies

Definitely. The Mattock is great for taking down just about everything aside from huge swarms of husks (and you can always whip out your flamethrower or your Revenant on those bastards). The Geth Shotgun is great for unloading into big nasty things like Praetorians and YMIR mechs from a safe distance where no other shotgun could touch them and the M-5 pistol is basically a handheld sniper rifle.

wait... dont you hold all the weapons in the game with your hands... wouldn't that make them handheld?

Forgot posting of DLC links not allowed. So can one of the Mods/Admin PM me the links? Have tried IE, FF, Chrome, Opera. No joy. Have 'allowed' Bioware/EA sites in all appropriate areas in Firewall and Browsers. Not a browser issue.
