Open up the nwn.ini file in your NWN directory using notepad. Look under [Display Options] and change the following FullScreen=0 and AllowWindowedMode=1. You may also need to adjust the Height and Width settings to obtain a window of the desired size.
I don't see the AllowWindowedMode=1 option under Display Options in my nwn.ini file, what's up?

If you don't have the AllowWindowedMode line in your nwn.ini file you can simply add it in.

Which height & width settings? & Where?
First off, find and run the file called nwconfig.exe, it will be found in the same folder as nwn.exe
Let it search for and self config the settings.
After that, when you start NWN, there is an options button. From that, choose "Video Options" and on that screen, right at the top, click "Resolution" and you can set it there.
Note: to play in windowed mode, you also need to edit nwn.ini and search for this:
[Display Options]
UseLargeFont=0
Width=1920
Height=1080
BitsPerPixels=32
RefreshRate=60
TexturePack=3
FullScreen=0
AllowWindowedMode=1
SafeMovie=0
Disable Movies=1
You want to ensure that the line "AllowWindowedMode" is set to a 1. (one).

It won't let me save the changes, is there any way to make that work?
Is your NWN install in the Programs Folder?
If it is you may have to be running your editing app as an admin. You may want to think about installin g your game somewhere other then the programs folder.
Also if you want the game to start in windows mode, You will also want to set the FullScreen option to 0 FullScreen = 0)

Window mode[/b] refers to running an application (such as Neverwinter Nights[/i]) in a window so that other applications can be seen, rather than giving the application the entire screen to use (full screen mode).Neverwinter Nights[/i] will start in window mode if certain lines from the file nwn.ini[/code] (found in the NWN[/code] directory) are edited as follows.
[Display Options]
FullScreen=0
AllowWindowedMode=1
The first of these lines is the section of the file; the latter two lines must appear before another file section is started. The second line controls the mode when the game starts (a zero indicates window mode, while a 1 indicates full screen mode). The third line controls whether or not window mode is available, potentially overriding the second line. The desktop resolution should be greater than the game's resolution (for example, desktop at 1024x768 and NWN at 800x600). Otherwise, Neverwinter Nights[/i] will ignore its resolution setting and run at 800x600 instead. Furthermore, when running under Windows 7 or Vista, it might be necessary to run the program in compatibility mode for Windows XP.Under Windows, it is possible to switch between full screen and windowed mode while the game is running (if windowed mode is allowed), by using the <Alt-Enter> key combination.
