So how sweet would it be to have a shadowy antagonist all through DA2...  Someone who is at first so much stronger than Hawke that they ignore her as a nusiance.  Then a few years pass and the antagonist starts to take Hawke more and more seriously, so that the second half of the game you end up struggling against an opponent with powerful allies, slowly defeating them one by one until... at the very end of the game....

DUN DUN DUN

Your Warden from DAO steps out of the shadows.  Maybe with the age slider swung a ways to the right, almost curiously so.  Your choices from DAO should give a good indication of how the Warden would try to beat you...  talk you out of the ultimate prize, stab you in the face with a ax, or roast you with a fireball.  The Warden would have to be clearly damaged though, maybe mentally or even showing some darkspawn taint...  Setting up DA3 where Hawke has to face whatever it was that drove a heroic Gray Warden as far into the dark at their life's end as they had been in the light when they'd saved Ferelden.


In closing: 

1) Hawke is totally the kid from the bridge in Lothering.

2) Here is my evidence for all my speculation:  None.

That kid was dirty.  Get them in a bath and they could be a girl.

2. The whole age thing doesn't work out right unless that kid somehow managed to become Champion of Kirkwall by like age 10.

3. My Warden is dead. You know, sword to the Archdemon and all that.

Especially since Cassandra is a Chantry inquisitor, and one of the few tidbits we have about the plot is that the world's on the brink of war, and the Chantry is facing collapse.

It will be the Qunari.



Chantry/Templars will be optional enemies. Even appearing as allies in case of certain choices...

I have a feeling that the Viscount of Kirkwall will be a significant antagonist, if not the story's major one.

Obviously it is canon that the Warden is a Fighter/Mage/Thief multiclass.
