So, everytime I play with Sten, he always is the first to die, and the quickest. I was wondering why this was. He's a warrior giant... Doesn't that mean that you can take more damage? And that you are stronger? I can never fully integrate him into my group, even with great armor he just dies in almost every battle. Why is this?

Constitution. It's the same with most everyone until you boost it.

So Sten starts out with less Constitution then the other characters? I also thought that maybe because he was so "strong" enemies attacked him first?

For a warrior type, he's definitely under-funded in the constitution department. I had the same issue when I first started playing. Once you increase it, he'll last longer. Just check out his stats and compare to what you think a warrior should have.

While the big guy has fewer HP than Oghren, I tend to believe it is based on the lower DEX scores. But I do agree that he is often the most vulnerable member of the team until I Respec the party.

i always find i tend to build sten up with more strength than the rest and ive read in a few places that enemies will mostly go for the most heavily armored first which in my case is sten when hes in my party, so unless i manage him correctly or have a good healer he will be first to go

sten is made of thin glass with his initial stats. He gets good when you pump con to around 25 to 30 before adding more strength. It also helps to get him a good 2H sword or axe with master runes for end the end game.
Near the end, at the defense of Redcliffe, Sten and Alistair blew through the horde so fast my Warden had a tough time keeping up!! Both had Strength and Constitution at 40, with dex at 28 if memory serves. Sten was equipped with Aohde (?) war axe, and Al with Oathkeeper and a named shield (don't remember which) with runes that gave +damage vs darkspawn. They ganged up on the Ogre Alpha and took it down so fast I didn't even know they had done it until I passed its body.
