Is Playing on Easy Really that Humiliating?

Is it really that humiliating though? I hear people complaining about the difficulty on normal being too hard and they just pack the game in and complain about it for centuries on end instead of putting it on easy. Why is that?
Shouldn't be humiliating after all the main point is having fun. I have played the game for a total of about 8-hours and have not had to switch from normal to easy yet but if I do it will be because the game has became tedious instead of fun.
By the way wasn't the first patch... 1.01... supposed to make the normal setting a tad easier?

One should play according to what is fun, as it is play.
So if Easy is fun, play it.
The great thing about having different difficulty levels, is choice. And once one has completed the game on Easy, and has a better grasp on the IP, bump it up a bit.
When it comes to a new game, with new IP, I always start at the bottom, and work my way up. As I get more confident with the rules, mechanics, and different aspects of the game, my ability to handle more difficulty also rises.
But then, that is what makes a game fun for me. YMMV.

A friend once told me "It's impossible to be humiliated - anyone trying to humiliate you on a blank spot is only humiliating himself, anyone claiming to be the reason of you feeling humiliated is taking credit for your work."

I tend to play easy in games - why? Because I want to relax when I play, not get frustrated and go nuts and stress out. DAO I play on normal because I want the added strategy of positioning my AoE's - but Im not afraid to go to easy for a hard fight.

If people have a problem with you playing something on a lower difficulty setting that's precisely what it is, their problem.

If you're having fun who cares. That is the beauty of it being a single player game.
And so what if I've used the toolset to add in a nuclear powered sword and a bow that lobs hand grenades. Fun it is!!!
I'm kidding, my bow doesn't lob hand grenades.

This is really a personal thing, though. There's no real logical reason to feel bad about it, except that it's a standard I set for myself, so I'd rather not give in and drop the ball this far in.
Having said that, there are a number of non-boss battles (usually with yellows) at this level where, as soon as I issue a command and the game is unpaused, two parties members die within seconds, due to things like AoE stuns and the like, and it's just not fun anymore. The enemies seem more and more 'cheap' and less and less challenging.
Long story short, next playthrough? I am going easy all the way, and it will be *fantastic*.

I'm playing for the neat story, how the characters interact throughout the game, in combat and out, and how the conflicts are ultimately resolved. Having my entire party wiped out several times and being forced to reload every time I face a boss fight does not factor into that at all, so i play on easy. In my opinion, it's much more immersion breaking to be reloading all the time than it is to have enemies that are a bit weaker than they should be (and if you really want to get technical, while there is no friendly fire, my bow has no string, so technically I'm not shooting anything anyway).
All this thread is about people who really suck at video games and who are trying to make themselves feel better by telling eachother its ok to play on easy....dont call yourselves gamers, its pathetic.

And this is called the "angsty teenager."
Video games are for fun, they're a hobby.

Because obviously you are better than everyone else and your opinion is the only one that counts. You are the one the world revolves around. All should bow down to you.
1) Grow up.
2) Grow Up.
and
3) Get some perspective.

1. People are playing on consoles: This game (from a UI perspective ) is not well suited to console play. I suspect that console play was simply "tacked on" to appease the corporate masters looking for greater market reach. In the end it only makes the game harder because the UI is unfriendly with the 360 and PS3 controllers, not because of anything inherently difficult about the game.
2. Pride: If you're talking about the game to your buddies or at work and start discussing a particularly difficult battle and share notes and tactics, someone will eventually realize that you're playing on easy and there ARE social ramifications to that. Not saying that's right but it happens. There's a little less respect among the peeps if you roll over an uber encounter on easy mode. That is really an issue between you and those people though. There's no way that you're a bad person or dumb because you chose easy mode.
The main thing I do want to say here is that neither of these are an excuse for making Normal or Hard easier. I have been positively DROWNING in games these past few years that although interesting in concept and/or execution, are simply lacking in the challenge department. I understand the need to appeal to casual players but that is what easy mode is for. don't touch normal difficulty because some people don't want to admit to their friends that they can't beat the game on normal.

I use tactics, I pause in combat, but damn this game just throws some tough stuff at you from time to time -- and frankly after 3 attempts I say screw and concede to the fact that the game has outdone me.
My second full run through won't ever drop to easy though. This is my learning curve.
