The problem with playing really old games is that nobody else is playing them at the same time, so when you tell your friends "hey guys I just solod Draconis!" they just look at you like you're crazy. And as much fun as it was in and of itself, you still want to tell someone    :/

Did it as a Kensai/Theif,  without abusing Use Any Item for mage scrolls, so no Time Stop cheese. Except...I had to use a Warding Whip scroll on the Dragon Form  :(  I suppose I could have looked for a wand that casts Breach, I think I remember selling one at some point.

Not sure who else is left other than Azbigal to try, I already killed Sendai and the Demogorgon with my party (both of which seemed like they would have been harder than Draconis to solo...Sendai's thing that reduces you to 1 HP is intense!). Can I just spawn a Demogorgon in front of me with the debug commands?

Hrm Abazigal was significantly easier so solo than Draconis, mostly because he couldn't seem to hit me. Draconis hit nearly every time for huge damage. Bit disappointed. Maybe I should have modded the game for that 'improved Abazigal' fight I've heard of...

Whoa! Slow down! :P

Don't worry, this place is not dead, but most importantly, that's quite a... Colossal spoiler to put in a no spoilers allowed Forum (you might want to ask the Moderator to move it to the BG2 spoiler zone).

Possible Throne of Bhaal Spoilers!!!

Yeah I noticed that Sometimes you are immune to Draconis' attacks... I guess he uses a normal or low enchantment weapon... Doesn't one of the hell trials give you immunity to weapons?

Overall, I think the most problematic thing with Draconis is that he's quite a smart guy. He wings you off, heals himself, turns invisible, starts mega killing, turns invisible. Quite an annoyance with a caster :P

As for Sendai's spell that reduces your HP quite a bit... I think that's... what's the name already, the opposite of Heal, a cleric spell. Quite nasty, especially if you lower Saving throws.

I was about to say "pffff spoilers, in 2010 nobody here is playing for the first time"...then I realized that's exactly what I'M doing. Sorry about that. At least I don't think the thread title really spoils since as soon as you realize Draconis exists you fight.

If a mod does want to move this so I could type freely that would be peachy though I suppose.

The boss soloing challenge continues...made it to the very last one (I think), let's see how hard that is.

I remember when I first took solo Draconis down with a non arcane spellcaster class. I was totally excited by my own awesomeness ;)

Was a Totemic Druid, by the way. Took me lots of tries...

So congratulatios to you. The last boss might be harder (it was for the druid, mainly because in ToB, she almost desperately needed at least one level 7 Spell to kill anything, so there quickly was a lack of spells). Good luck!

Wait, was this your summoning challenge (or how you called it :P )? I remember you posting about it on the old forums. Must have been one hell of a bumpy run (at least for me it would be... I suck at such things :( )

Do you have a video on youtube? I think I googled "solo Draconis" and it came up so I watched it...or a bit of it...looked loooong ^.^

Final boss done! But not solo! Because wow, even with my 4 man party that was insanely intense, even using everything I had. Maybe that's what I get for having Jan as my mage and not being able to dump Horrid Wiltings into things...

No, I don't have a youtube video. I don't think I posted a specific challenge for this particular totemic druid (I could be wrong, my memory is not that good) even though I pretty much only defeated enemies by summoning, and it didn't even take that long - really, the only enemies that were hard were Draconis and the final boss. But for those, I needed endless tries - all other bosses can defeated by a combination of really powerful summons, nature's beauty and insect plague.
What I still do have are two screenshots, one for Sendai (she was extremely easy because her ways of dealing wtih summons are very limited, considering the sheer amount of summons a totemic druid has at his/her disposal) and one for Abazial (he couldn't reach the spot where he sent me to via Wing Buffet, as far as I can remember, which made him even more easy):
Sendai, Abazigal.
Oh, and I also found two character screenshots: Leanna's Inventory, Leanna's Stats

Concerning the Draconis battle, I think the way I finally defeated him was Indeed, after killing his Human Form with summons, sucessfully using both Natures Beauty for blinding him and Insect Plague to prevent him from Healing, then Summoning all powerful beings and attacking him until he's dead. The problem was pretty much only his magic resistance and me not having a way to lower it... otherwise, it would have been rather easy. Harm would also be a possibilty, I think, but the only bosses I defeated via Harm were Yaga Shura (which meant that he died after 2 seconds of combat) and the final boss (where I HAD to do it, because nothing else (besides extreme cheese) would help).
I think both battles were played on insane difficulty (at least Sendai definetly was).

edit: I just watched the video you mentioned - finishing Draconis with a level 3 Spell... now that's awesome.  He usually resisted my attempts if I tried that.

Can't believe Harm actually works on bosses. I guess that would've made Melissan a lot easier...

I'm not sure how I can solo Melissan, especially if I stick to my "no Mage scrolls with UAI" limitation. The main problem is her timestop...if she timestops next to me I die. Capped out at -24 AC, 230 HP, doesn't matter, she doesn't miss and melees me down during timestop. Plus even with -20 THACO it seems I miss more often than hit (yes with her Barkskin down).

I guess if timestop had a unique animation or something I could watch for it and run away during the cast.

I didn't fight the original melly with my solo fighter but the Five with (on core)but I might be able to give you some tips. If she's only meleeing you, then just use buffs like gargoyle boots(stoneskin) and ibratha(mirror image). You are a fighter/thief right? Maybe you can find a way to lay spike traps?

Do you have any missile weapons? Arrows of dispelling? If melly has improved mantle, you're just going to have to run away and wait for it to wear off. Once she casts stoneskin, immediately rod it off and continue bashing until she gets it back up again. If you have the staff of the magi, it hits on dispel so you don't need to have arrows of dispelling. You should be able to use it because of UAI. Well in any case that's all I can think of on the top of my head without using scrolls...etc.
