I think 99% of people complaining about ME2 on this forum will buy ME3.

Hey, I came this far, I'm gonna finish the fight.  And I don't hate ME2, I just think it's lost too much from ME1.

Just checked VGChartz, and by week 20:

Mass Effect total sales (Xbox360) - 2,25 million

Mass Effect 2 total sales (Xbox360) - 1,86 million

That's without the PC sales, and disregarding the fact that there was a slight boost of Mass Effect (1) sales after the sequel launched.

And vocal... are you kidding me? It's exactly because on the old forum RPG players stayed quiet and civilized, while a shooter group cried out loudly, that we got a Gears of War clone. Not this time, if it stays a shooter, BioWare gets 72$ less from me.

Because they would surely say anything else. Surely they would openly admit if the sales numbers were beyond their expectations. Of course. They wouldn't release a demo months after release and lower the price instead.

Going off about "customization" ehh chris? Im down for ME3 still. Just hope they take choices more into account and dont screw over their fanbase and cater to newcomers again.

Me, I think Mass Effect 3 should use ME2's combat and ME1's skill system, with a bit of customization available for weapons. I agree that ME1 went too far with customization, but ME2 had too little. Just finding the sweet spot would be fine.

I think that the skill system for ME3 will be more in-depth because more skills will be added (Shep will be able to reach a higher level)

Thanks, Throw.

"In Mass Effect 2 we focused on what we love about RPGs: An awesome sense of exploration, intense combat, a deep and non-linear story that's affected by your actions, and rich customisation of your armour, weapons and appearance..."

I kinda had to laugh about this section.

Me 2, ME1 had way more customization and the missions were linear. Not many different routes you could take.

VGchartz is very unreliable. For one, ME2 lacks the Japan sales. VGchartz doesn't have correct numbers. ME2 has been out for about 6 months. ME1 has been out for 3 years

Bioware can do whatever they want with Mass Effect 3 for all I care. ME2 is good, but to me it kind of falls short as a sequel. I just want the atmosphere ('immersion' as many people around here call it) of ME (1) back.

If by 'customisation of your ... weapons' he means 'you can choose between 3 types of SMG' then sure, crazy rich customisation, Casey.

I'm fine with not having the inventory back, but it'd be really nice if you could properly customise your weapons, with various mods that you can either research or buy, or that you get through scanning something during a mission or whatever. The mechanic could work the same way you customise your armour, and would make the armoury and weapons locker on the Normandy actually useful.

All ME3 needs to do is take ME2's gameplay (we just needs more customise options for everything) and the higher quality of the ME1 story.

The gameplay in ME2 is great and has been extremely well received. There's no reason to fix what's not broken. Of course they could make small improvements which I'm sure most people would welcome.

I think everyone in the world loves this game except the people on Bioware's forums.

It's unreal. I for one am extremely happy that ME3 will be like ME2 - ME2 was a great experience. I would prefer another game like ME2 compared to ME1, and I like both RPGs and FPS.

I'm all for tweaking but there's no need for 150 items and turning crap into Omni-gel.

ME1 gave the illusion of having many weapons and armor, and people still fall for it. In reality, there was only 3 different armors while the rest were reskins. As for the weapons, there was 2 models of each type and they all fired the same (unlike in ME2), and the others were just reskins with a bunch of roman numerals to make you think they're different

I love the way so many people see criticism and ignore the actual words and say everyone wants ME1's exact inventory system back.

Surely it's the ability to mod that sets them apart?

This made my day! It's reassuring to know that I won't be sifting through all that darn inventory from ME1. That they're keeping the gameplay and focusing on the story.

Well, some people like illusions and I partially agree on that. ME (1) also had the illusion that it was this big galaxy you played in. To me that illusion was stripped in ME2. If that's better as a matter of personal taste.

Well, adding more skills overall would be desired.  It helped make my team feel more diverse.  Though having multiple specialists in certain areas does make sense with ME2's large crew.  Still, raising a lot of skills made it feel more like an RPG.  Really, the confusing part about ME1 was all the weapon and armor options and no good way to organize them.

You could be right, but that's the only site I know with sales charts. Either way, my point was that ME2 didn't sell better than the first. Even if you take the Japanese sales (although in their chart there were sales statistics from Japan) how many more copies do you think ME2 sold? Enough to tie? Again, no PC sales, but the original did very good on the PC - enough to port it after being exclusive, and it was actually improved in some respects. I know people who waited for the inevitable PC (I did) or bought it too as their main one.

EA wanted to turn ME into the next huge TPS franchise with sales in to the tens of million by dumbing it down for the teens, and what happened? They managed to alienate a lot of mans, making them potential, instead of pre-order customers for ME3.

Good to know that Casey Hudson knows where to look. Just because the ME2-haters are always hating here, in this forum, doesn't mean they are the majority. ME2 received higher score and sales, that is enough to know which way they must take.

That's funny, I love how you ignored what I said and put words in my mouth.

I simply am happy with the current system in ME2 - it's streamline, efficient. I don't think adding an inventory would make the game any better, or in a way I'd appreciate. You may disagree - that's fine.

I haven't argued for adding an inventory.
