The only thing that makes me question this as a future storyline is the fact that the DR is not necessarily canon.

They could force a canon.

.. or a "default" as the Mass Effect crew call it.

Yeah but I think Gaider has posted several times insisting the DR isn't necessarily canon when people start complaining about it.

But that's the thing, saying the game's story is "default" instead of "canon" instantly removes all doubts from the storyline. I'd probably be able to argue that Wrex dead / Council dead / Udina councilor is the Mass Effect 1 canon choices but the community would yell at me that it's the default character and such.

Yeah but if the OGB were the PC then whoever didn't do the DR wouldn't be able to import their game unless they forced a canon. I doubt they'd make an alternate PC to get around this just for those people.

That would be a good way to flesh out future DA material, including OGB. Like some of the best stories out there, you make your own conclusions, interpretations, in this case certain fanbases their own canon.

Bioware got something special going with this DA franchise. DR was a great curveball with depth.

It seems however that they do not want to take advantage of it...everything I have read seems to indicate the devs want 'Dark Ritual' and 'old god baby' to go away...

Just that those pesky fans of the game can't get enough of it....

I don't get that impression.  Since we know "Morrigan's story is not over yet"  - it seems very likely that they will tie up DR/God Baby/No God Baby somehow.

I can appreciate the producers and writer tug of war in trying to find out the "way ahead" on Morri. Wouldn't be the firt org to paint itself into a corner. Up to us fans to throw a lifeline, e.g. demans for an expansion. Unless of course BW has bigger plans for Morri with DA2 or DA 3 ideas.

I think the guy in the trailer for DA2 is the baby just grown up.

Yes and the start of the game you're a sperm swimming around in the Warden's balls. Later at level 2, you fight other sperm to get to Morrigan's eggs. At the end of the game you'll be 10 years old and playing Nintendo. The trailer was just a vision of the future that doesn't happen in DA2

I do agree with the Greywardens OP. That's the paradox of carrying choices from one game to the other and not estabilishing a canon of some sort for the bigger events of the past games.

If you do not carry the choices and estabilish a canon, the majority of players would be upset because the game do not recognize his/her choice. It would be very unfair, especially for the famale players. Even if it would mean a more solid starting point for the storytelling it would cause a lot of whining. If you carry the choices, they won't influence the major plotline because it's nearly impossible to recognize all the permutation from one playthrough to the other in a meaningfull manner. The solution are cameos and letters, just like ME did. Wich, while fun and all, it's "useless" content (I mean, they are rarely relevant for the main plot).

I would love to be wrong and to be surprised by Bioware awesomness once more, but honestly I do not see a solution for that paradox except convoluted storylines that would feel like a rip off... so I think that the DR fall in that category: to give importance to each one of us who have played DA:O, every choice we have made will not matter a lot in the next games and will not influence our games a great deal (maybe in DLC).

Ah. Optimism, nice to see. You have to write a summary for me when you play it. I won't buy it myself.

No optimism for me.

I want a conclusion, and I am happy they have that, but a scrawny DLC? End of Origins? No last expack? Who the -***- decided on ending one of the best RPGs of the new century ending with a DLC? That's an insult to end it on a small buck bang for the company. A bloody huge insult.

Jesus and Hell, BioWare.

Oh, and you probably won't see any of your old companions, either. Even if you married Alistair, got with Leliana or chose to travel with Wynne. I bet this was an expack. I bet you my whole right arm it was.

There is also a very simple and very silly and maybe a bit strange answer to the DR. However not going into to much details because someone might get upset. But it involves either a sleep spell or a spiked drink or food, she did mention she is good at alchemy. However personally, Morrigan gets with Allister, heck he even mentions it to the Male PC that he kind of likes her in that way.

Oh?  The closest I've seen is during his "what do you think of our companions" dialogue, where you can say she's beautiful, and he'll agree. I've never heard of him saying anything about liking her though. In fact during that same conversation, he calls her a **** (rhymes with Witch).

At one point he ask me what I see in here, because I had her attitude toward me kind of high, not up to the point where she askes about getting in bed with each other. I kind of deflected on to him kind of like how he likes to do things. Somewhere around there is where I think he mentions it.

Its funny- you look at most other sites reporting on this DLC being the last for Origins and wrapping up Morrigan and most people are confused, thinking it would have been saved for one last expansion pack or a proper sequel- and that they'd have been happy to shell out more $ to have seen that happen.

This conclusion to Origins damn well should have been another expansion pack. Instead we get a $7 DLC- and mostly because it seems they want to rush DA2 out the door. This better be the biggest and best $7 DLC ever made...

It really makes me wonder if bioware was planning on another expansion to wrap up the story, and not just a dlc. What really sucks is that we'll never know what bioware was originally planning. I don't think they intended to finish the orgins story line with a $7 DLC. Reneging on their original two year promise of DLC isn't a good sign either. All of this is because Dragon Age 2 happened and now we have a six month gap with no new content planned or coming which is not good. That being said i just hope this witch hunt dlc closes out the story well and doesn't end with a facepalm moment.

Its not THE Morrigan, but A Morrigan that we will meet in the DLC.... The description says it subtly.. (Is it really her?) which can also be interpreted that Flemeth has possessed her.. (not so quickly I would think)...
