The only beings an Arcane Warrior need fear are Templars. Which is quite fitting.

n00b question: Templars can disrupt passive talents?

EDIT: I meant sustained...

As long as mages run around in bathrobes, please keep arcane warrior or a nerfed variant. I don't even care about tanking magic, or soaking up damage. IT'S ABOUT THE BATHROBES.

u can go arcane warrior with robes

no one said AW immedeatly = tank

Heh. I believe they were saying that they hate the robes, which is why they went AW in the first place.

With that area-dispel, yes. Seriously, it's the one and only time I LOVED having my ass kicked. My AW was strolling through the Circle Tower on Nightmare, Mana clashing everything, acting like he was the ruler of the freakin' multiverse... and then came that room with filled with templars and the biggest beatdown of his life.

It's cool to have a melee-oriented mage specialization ... ONE melee-oriented mage specialization. Origins for some reason ended up with three, including Battlemage, Arcane Warrior, and Shapeshifter.

Battlemage and Arcane Warrior should be replaced with a single balanced melee mage spec that keeps the best of each while toning down the excesses of AW.

Shapeshifter should be retooled for more flexibility (and less suck). I'd like to see it as a sort of Arcane Rogue, with a stealthy form and an entangling form and an armor-piercing form.

Cone of Cold, man, Cone of Cold. Seriously, you will breeze through that game and nothing will be able to stop you.

overpowered?

all the arcane warrior was good for was tanking. crap auto attack, and inefficient casting

Who needs casting and a high attack when you're damn near invincible.

Exactly, you don't need great DPS when your AW can tank the Archdemon solo

Overpowered? I thought Blood Mage and Battlemage were much more efficient. Arcane warrior I just chose for the improved survivability, but with too heavy armor I couldn't use too many spells.

Honestly, I only used Reaper's Vestments on my AWs. That and stone armor to get rid of the ghost look and just be somewhat see-through. Usually having elemental chaos on in big fights in Awakening. Still had plenty of mana and survivability to throw the occasional fireball, cone spells, and group heal.
With high enough magic, just make a bunch of lyrium potions and you'll have unlimited mana.

I know certain people didn't like the Arcane Warrior class in Dragon Age: Origins due to it's overpowered nature, but I for one loved it and don't want it removed or changed in any way.

If other players don't like the Arcane Warrior class as it is, then they don't have to use it.

It's nice having an overpowered class to choose from that can make your 2nd or 3rd playthrough easier on you.

Hehe yeah I loved the Arcane Warrior class as well, I mean who doesnt like playing as a god? But seriously although I do love the class I do realise that it does need a nerf, why be a warrior when you can be an arcane warrior?

Read Harry Potter much?

EDIT: And there is a reason for the Bathrobes mind you.... Anders tells us as much...... :D:P

I wouldn't listen to Anders - he would have a whole lot more luck in armour. Maybe he thinks women actually like furry shoulderpads, but outside the Circle Tower, the whole "ease of access" issues aren't so difficult.
Hmm, glorious platemail... or embroidered pjs. :)

I'm also guessing from your response there's something about bathrobes and Harry Potter?  No, I don't read Harry Potter much. Or at all.  Posted Image

I would be extremely disappointed if they took out Arcane Warrior.

If they tweaked it ( to make it more melee oriented ), or consolidated Arcane Warrior, Battle Mage, and Spirit Warrior into a single Mage/Warrior hybrid class......I'd be fine with it.

But if they took it out entireley to separate the 3 classes further, then I might actually lose all interest in the game ( and I am very interested in it ).

I want more specializations....more variety......especially more hybrid classes ( like a mage/rogue hybrid class ).

They are already limiting our choices to one race.  If they start removing specs to limit your character to a more "narrow" definition of warrior, mage, or rogue.........then that's really pushing it, imo.

But it only applies to crotchety old wizards named Archie.  Is it sad that I know that by memory years after the last Harry Potter book came out?  Oh Harry Potter...such an integral part of my nerdy childhood

Anyway, as for Arcane Warrior, I have to question the wisdom from a design perspective of taking a broken component of the game and keeping it...broken.  I'm just saying.  Though I do wonder about their whole schtick of making the classes more distinct.  I play hybrid/multiclass characters a lot in old-school D&D based games, and in 4E.  I understand not having the BATTLE ROLES overlap, but I could go for some hybrid flavor.

Eldritch Knights worked great to my taste.... A few feats lost, but terrible fun in NWN2 I had....

I don't really like support characters, so i did not find Bards all that interesting.... I never really tried the Arcane trickster also.. seemed to have the worst of two classes in one go... Also no to mention the whole crowd of "immune to sneak-attack" mobs and monsters....

So in DA I would like to see some distinct overlaps like Mage + Rogue.... We have mage + warrior, but a utility Mage not yet... May be interesting....
