Okay I'm a huge fan of Mass Effect and I really love Bioware for bringing these games out but I honestly am starting to wonder what the whole point of Cerberus Network was..

I bought the game brand new with the expectation that CN would be getting decent stuff everyone once in a while. Now I'm not unrealistic. I do understand that SOME of the DLC will be priced and we will all have to pay for it.

But honestly BIoware Cerberus Network was supposed to be a perk for those of us who got it and yet NOTHING has come thru Cerberus Network in months.

And I'm sure this new Liara DLC will be paid for too and NOT free.

When are we going to see som free content for those of us who bought this game brand new that came with the Cerberus Network code?

I`m trying to wrap my head around this. How can something that was free be a rip-off?

Four free pieces of DLC. One extra squad member, Five missions with a new vehicle, a heavy weapon, and a suit of armour.

I got that all free. How can that be a rip-off?

I'm saying the content that they have delivered so far is lacking. The supported it like the first few weeks and since then NOTHING.

You know exactly what I mean and if you don't see my POV well that there's nothing I can do for you. But I know lots of other people feel the same way. I bought the game knowing that CN was coming with it.

And I thought it would be good value since Bioware said they would use it and support it. So far I haven't seen that happening. And this new "weapons pack" DLC plus the Liara DLC which we all know will be priced at like 1600 MS Points I'm just sorta bummed out by the whole thing.

Cerberus network is nothing more than a perk for first time buyers of a new copy of the game. There is nothing crooked about it. The buyer of new copy gets free stuff that buyers of second hand copy do not get unless they pay for the cerberus network access.

Even if you buy a second hand game copy from a store Bioware gets nothing for it. Personally not only do I feel it is fair, I think it is smart.

Because people who get free stuff, think that they are entitled to everything free.

To OP:

Cerberus network was a way to give the players what should have been in the game, to the people who bought the game new. Its idea and implementation was twofold.

Trying to stop the purchase of 2nd hand games in which Bioware gets no profits by at least having an incentive to a) buy the game new and B) buy something if they bought the game second hand. I think it is a good idea.

Secondly somethings were not able to be finished before the code had to be compiled and the product had to be ready for marketing. Things that should have been in the game itself. Normandy crash site, Zaheed, and henceforth. They had about 2 months in between the actual completion of the game and the release so they worked on these things, and thats why there was day one DLC.

Cerberus network wasnt meant for all DLC to be free, but instead to actually include the stuff that should have been in the game that they didnt have time for before the realease of the game.

Okay. I hear what you are saying. Clearly you made some sort of mistaken assumption. Before the game was released, we were told that the Zaaed DLC and the Firewalker DLC would be free to download with the Cerberus Network card. No other DLC was promised. That was what the card was for. I remember these discussions clearly. For a long while we wern`t sure what the Cerberus network card was for. This is it.

It was really added to the package only as an anti-piracy measure. So that people who didn`t buy the game new on launch day would have to pay for the initial DLC. I don`t know where you are anyone else got the idea that other content was going to be delivered free.

You're really not missing anything by not having CN. That's just the simple truth.

I dislike all the nickle-and-diming weapon and armor packs, I really do, but...just don't buy them.

Its a form of DRM to dissuade buying it second hand. Free for those who buy it new. Not free for those who buy it use and/or pirate the game

Except I do NOT think that.

And it wasn't "free"

I paid 69.99 for the Collector's Edition. That was hard earned money.

And since then I've bought all the DLC packs (Exvcept for the costume ones and weapons ones).  I buy DLC to expand the storyline.  And I've bought all the ones that have done this.

Just like I will buy Liara's DLC regardless of whether its free or not.

My concern/point is that I thought CN was something that BIoware would use continually to give those of us got it at launch of have bought since then little perks here and there. It doesn't have to be anything major. I'd just like to know that there is value being added to it once in a while.

The Cerberus Network card did not add anything to the cost of your Collector`s Edition. It came with the regular edition as well. It was free.

And once again, I heard what you thought. Clearly what you thought turned out to not be correct. I don`t know where you got the idea that it was going to be an ongoing source of free content. It was never sold as such.

It's the exact same as the Shale card. Except Shale looks like it might have been cut with some added content while the stuff in the CN didn't seem to be finished by release

Thanks for responding. My reply was more aimed at "theelementslayer" who I thought was being rude towards me.

I understand your posts though and your explanation. Thank you for taking the time to explain it to me.

No, no. You've misunderstood what it's for. Cerberus isn't an anti-piracy measure, it's an anti-used game measure. There's a world of difference between the two.

What Cerberus has given us so far has been on par with other BioWare DLC. Zaeed was a great addition to the game, and I loved my party of FemShep, Garrus and Zaeed. We were "Big Goddamned Heroes"! I will admit that I had hoped we would have more content, and I do hope that BioWare - when they officially cut free content - will make it known. All we've heard, I believe, is a tweet saying that it's likely to be over, but I hope BioWare squeeze out one more pack.

What I think they should have done is put the "Alternate Appearance Pack" on Cerberus, though, and perhaps this latest one that's been released. Whilst I appreciate new content as much as the next person (when I can buy it, of course ^_^), I feel that EA are asking a lot for not a lot. Compared to other DLC releases, they're very poor value, even at the small sum they're asking. If they'd combined the Firepower, Aegis and the helmet pack (forgotten the name) into one package for, say, 400 points, I'd feel it was better value. Small loss per sale, sure, but I bet it'd increase the number of sales.

If I'm not mistaken, the true purpose of the Cerberus Network is to enable data mining of player stats by Bioware. The initial free downloads were only a carrot to encourage people to buy into it. Making some money off of second-hand buyers is probably only a bonus - a much appreciated bonus, but not the primary concern. The player statistics should help Bioware determine where to focus their efforts in developing the next game.

(Not that I wouldn't mind the occasional free item, but I'm surprised people seem to presume that giving out free stuff is what CN is 'for'.)

CERBERUS NETWORK PROVIDES FREE STUFF.

AND DATA MINES YOUR GAME INFO, DON'T WORRY BROS, THEY DON'T KNOW THAT ABOUT YOUR HORRIBLE PORN COLLECTION.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE BUY THE REST OF THE BLANTANT RIPOFFS DLCS IF YOU'RE TOO POOR OR RATHER SPEND IT ON SOMETHING WORTHWHILE.

Cerebus Networks main purpose was to make the bootleggers and cheap stakes think twice about pirating or buying a used copy of mass effect 2.

It`s actually both. It`s a "encourage people to buy the game new so we can make more money" measure. Which is fine with me.

It was FREE. Things like this are always worth what you pay for them.

Seriously, a squadmate, vehicle, vehicle missions, and some armor/weapons aren't enough FREE stuff?

Get over it man. Srsly.

Bioware/EA are businesses providing a product. If it costs them something to make, they have every right to charge for it. Period.

I think people were expecting an endless string of free content for as long as ME2 was relevant to them.

I personally was hoping that it was going to be a brilliant way of circumventing MS CHARGE FOR EVERYTHING ON XBL deal. Sadly I was wrong

Well I was actually thinking of this yesterday but even though I wish for more free stuff I can't complain I did get free stuff. And some of the DLC for sale should really be free since they are just weapons and armors. But for things that open storyline are worth buying in my eyes.
