CERBERUS NETWORK PROVIDES FREE STUFF......

Sago_mulch,
Many times have I, Seagloom, and Stanley Woo repeatedly told you to not post in all caps. I don't want to ban you for something so stupid. Please just refrain from doing so.

I'm not sure I fully get the OP. Are you saying that you paid extra for the game because it came with the CN, because I bought the game a month ago and it came with the Cerberus network code and it was a normal price version.

OP is upset because he actually paid for a new game instead of a used one, and didn't get as much free DLC as he wanted.

Used one doesn't have the free DLC. Plus, to my knowledge, the money also goes to the store. Not to Bioware.

Man, customers are really selfish.

Who are you guys trying to kid? The Cerberus network is as much a second layer of DRM to frustrate pirates as incentive for used-game buyers to pony up.

Pirates might be able to trick or remove the CD check, but they can't decrypt the DLC keys easily. Making pirates feel like filthy second-class citizens like they deserve while also providing a defense for the DLC sales as well.

So, where other games like Fallout had their game and DLC sales hit by piracy, ME2 can at least control the latter.

Not just that, you need a proof of puchase to even post on these forums.

They could have at least made it not sound like it would be a steady stream of free stuff.

Okay, seriously, why would you even believe that a company is going to continuously hand out content/product to a consumer, free of charge?

That's like, the exact opposite of a business.

I'm not talking about big stuff, I am talking about the small "microtransaction" junk. And business should invole building customer loyalty.

Give me a decent amount of content in a $10-20 add-on rather than some minor thing you pay $3 for.

Customer loyalty sure, but the fact is, handing out a product, however big or small, that costs a business something to make, free of charge, is bad for them. Period.

As a customer, all I expect is to get what I paid for, as advertised, and to receive prompt and effective customer service if there is an issue with the product I purchased.

Beyond that, I personally would never ask or expect a company to provide me with anything free of charge, that cost them something to make.

You're really not missing anything by not having CN. That's just the simple truth.

I dislike all the nickle-and-diming weapon and armor packs, I really do, but...just don't buy them.

Zaeed, various upgrades, assignments, missions, the Hammerhead, the Eviscerator, Cerberus Assault Armor, Normandy Crash Site, and Arc projector don't qualify as "anything"?   Seems like "simple truth" is exactly the wrong description.   "Not missing anything essential to the game"? Sure, I can go for that, but all that stuff most certainly is something.

It's the exact same as the Shale card. Except Shale looks like it might have been cut with some added content while the stuff in the CN didn't seem to be finished by release

Shale was so damn buggy (and that's saying something considering it's DA:O we're talking about) she just had to go so they could make launch. But, they managed to get her (mostly) functional in time for release, so we ended up the the card deal.

Seriously? I buy all the games I play and the DLC but I do know that I could get it for free. Pirates get the DLC for free just as easily as the game itself. The Cerberus network is just an attempt to limit reselling used games as much as possible.

Oh but it's hilarious! Just when I think people can't possibly find something else to complain about in ME2, they start complaining about the free stuff.

Free stuff!

I'm saying the content that
they have delivered so far is lacking. The supported it like the first

So what? What does it matter that nothing has come out on it since Firewalker? It didn't cost you anything.

Four free pieces of DLC. One extra squad member, Five missions with a new vehicle, a heavy weapon, and a suit of armour.

I got that all free. How can that be a rip-off?

Don't think too hard. This whole argument gets styled as some sort of outcry. But it boils down to people wanting stuff for free. It's got nothing to do with
'support'. We've already been handed a selection of armour, weapons,
vehicles, missions, all for free. Apparently, it's not enough for some people.

It's not even like the free stuff was a load of rubbish - the Arc Projector was a seriously awesome weapon that turns up on people's fave gun lists all the time, the Firewalker mission's only real problem was that they were short, and the Evis is a well liked piece of kit. Zaeed and his mission were brilliant too.

There'll always be people who'll whinge if they don't get given stuff. That can't be helped.

I think it was underutilized - some of the stuff on CN (maybe all of t was great) but it dried up. I agree the appearance pack and maybe the visor pack could have come out on CN (or maybe available on CN at a later date). They can still throw some minimal stuff to owners now as it is more PR than anything outside of Zaeed.

In the future gamers may just skip a new game and but it 2nd hand if they feel the incentive of the "CN" isnt quality and just purchase the DLC they want.

EA has gamers locked on their multiplayer games though - no way around that if you want to play online.

The problem with the cerebus network is that it is another layer of convolution added to this mess. So I bought this game to play in origin, but for some reason I can't use the client I use to play the game to DL the DLC. It's a transparent attempt at intrusive DRM. I PAID FOR THE GAME I SHOULDN'T BE HASSLED.

Necro of the day. :-D

Far as I  knew Cerberus Network activation is only needed once and can be turned off for good (barring reinstalls) after that. I DLd all the Cerberus Network DLC after I first installed the game and have mostly played offline and with no CN hassles ever since. Aside from still checking for news two years after the last time there was any new news I never hear a peep out of it. However, I bought the game via Steam DL rather than Origin, and since Origin doesn't have many fans I'd be inclined to think any hassling is Origin related rather than Cerberus Network related.
