I think this maybe a potential huge exploit. If alredy discovered and posted then sorry.

Here's how you can get to any level you want without any mods/cheating whatever:

Get the dalish on your side.
Go to dalish camp.
Talk to merchant guy. Buy as many batches elfroots (around 50silver/99pack) as you want (merchant has infinate stock).
Go to your camp.
Go to supply crates.
Pick "Turn in crfating materials for the Dalish.
Pick "Give all elf roots".
Repeat.

I took it to 25, cause it can be boring, since when you pick the "Give all elfroots" option it only gives him a 99 package so you have to repeat over and over. One 99-pack of elfroot gets you round 1000XP, not too shabby! If i'm the first to post this, I hereby named thee "The Mistress Exploit" :D

I posted about that in another topic, but yeah, I did that without realizing that it provided so much experience... it got me from Level 21 to almost 23 in less than 3 minutes, since I was dumping in everything I didn't think I'd need for the final fight(s) into my allies.

Kind of pointless to do once my magic and willpower were over 50 (with boosts), and I'd gained a few extra talents (including the suprisingly badass Mana Clash), but still good for people to know about.

Only downside, If the elves are dead you can't do it.

suprisingly badass Mana Clash

really? Do you run into enough enemy spellcasters later in the game to make this worthwhile?

Nah, not really. But the ones you face can be a real pain especially with crushing prison, so it's nice to have some way of taking care of them easily.

BTW: I correct myself. There is a level cap at 25, so even if i wanted to go further I couldn't.

Well Bioware was touting that there was no hard cap... however, there is a hard cap of 25.

There is another XP exploit which can be done at the beginning of the game (sort of) and you can play the whole game as a lvl 25 toon. I tried it. I got bored real fast and deleted the toon. I enjoy the leveling up experience.

Cheers, Mr. Dark

Thing is. On a 'normal' rate, so without using any of this. You would most likely not get to 25. Thus technically there is no real level ending. But if you use these kind of exploits, then yes you hit the hard level cap.

On the normal rate of XP, if you do everything, you'll very likely hit 23/24.... MAYBE 25. I did my first run through the story in about 50ish hours but did almost no side quests... well, only the ones that were directly in my way. Going this way, I was just one or two XP bubbles shy of level 20.

My next play through I'm planning to really take it slow and relax and try to do as much as I can. I'll assume that completing all the Job board and other quests will probably hit you up to 23/24.

I was only mentioning that Bioware had said that there was no hard cap. The fact that there is.... I don't really care. Just letting people know. I know some will take it to mean that "Bioware has betrayed us! Shame shame they are to blame; their lies provide the fuel for this flame." But I don't; like I said, just letting people know. I tried the exploit at the beginning of the game and played with a high level char but soon deleted it beacuse... well... it wasn't much fun. I have fun looking forward to getting different abilities and then using them and growing as a character. And I'm sure the majority of players probably feel the same way.

Cheerio,

Mr. Dark

OT reply to OT quote earlier in thread...

There's more than one way to eliminate an enemy spell caster's nasty spells (current ones), and it doesn't even require a mage. Only a templar. Hint hint. So if your mages are busy with other thing, Alistair can take out a bad enemy spellcaster as well. :)

Yeah you can do something like this in Ostgar with the blood vial quest. Cool to find exploits like this, but you can always use the console to level your character to get the same results only faster.

Yeah, but that's cheating. This isn't. ;)

1. This is cheating the same way as the Ostagar quest.

2. There is always a hard cap, or your level would overflow to 0 or negative, depending how xp and level is represented in the game. Or you couldn't level up (or freeze into levelup) because there are no skills to select.
