Okay, I killed Firkraag with GWW faster than I could STR drain him... o.O
Also, Illithids are my bizatches with GWW. All hail Firetooth GWW!

Boots of Speed have nothing to do with APR btw.

Yeah I noticed. I'm trying to get the Ring of Gaxx for the Imp. Haste, so I can combine that with CS and Greater Deathblow.

If you've gone through the underdark, you should be able to improve the Cloak of Protection + 2 to include Improved Haste as well.
Also, the cloak of non-detection doesn't protect from True Seeing/Sight, which makes it fairly useless.

So I decided to try out the Gesen Shortbow and worked up to Shortbow grandmastery. And I'm getting 4.5 base APR on it. Firetooth is sitting at 3.5 APR.Very odd. Grandmastery on both weps, so does the Gesen bow have a hidden +1 attacks mod I guess? If so it's clearly superior to Firetooth outside of GWW.

All bows get two base APR. Crossbows only get one by default.

Haha you'd think that would have been something I'd noticed earlier.
Well that's good, makes the Firetooth less of a clear winner in the archery department.

It does protect from TS, but only if you've used a skill to become invisible (read: Hide in Shadows) or with the Invisibility from the SoTM.Dante2377 wrote...

Improved Demogorgon down wooo! Or I guess technically original demogorgon.
I was extremely worried about this coming in because I found to my dismay that Archers can't use that Breach/Pierce wand.
Prepped with Sim, 2x Moon Dog, 2x beserker, 1x spider, sent the summons into position down the left stairs. Took me and the sim to the right stairs. Triggered the boss, he always opens with timestop and blows a bunch of stuff on my summons, and puts his summons over on the left side.
Me and sim roll up from behind, pop called shot and start barraging him. Apparently stoneskin isn't such a big deal when he's getting hit with 20 APR. First few attempts though this didn't quite work, because my sim would always fail a save and get held, and Demo would run off at Badly Injured while I got chased by his army of summons, and my hit and run attacks thereafter weren't enough to bring him down before I somehow failed a hold save (all my saves are negative but I guess something was being cast on me that reduced them).
However, the good old "keep reloading until you roll the save" strat paid off on the 6th try, allowing me and sim to hit him for a few straight rounds. At Near Death he frantically tried to flee behind the protection of his summon army but it was too late, the arrows in the air finishing him as he reached the fog.
At this point I started celebrating, forgot to pause the game and almost died to the summons. Luckily I noticed in time :/

Haha, sweet. Congrats on Demo. I whipped him using the same strategy with different summons
except mine wasn't Improved/Original. :|
Irenicus was cake. After running around to have his contingency buffs wear off, he went down like a ton of bricks to Improved Haste + Tuigan + Critical Strike. Before him, Bodhi went down to the same thing.
In ToB, Illasera went down with one GWW using the Firetooth +4. Yaga Shura was tough, had to break out the Darts of Wounding (read that strategy somewhere on the old forums) and got him down. Abazigal was a bit of a b**ch, used the standard dragon tactics on him. Used Sim and the Staff of Fire to surround him with 7 lesser fire elementals, Valhalla Horn for a Berserker, and Ras for a Mordekainen. Sendai went down to a similar strategy using Tuigan + Imp. Haste + CS. I have no clue how Balthazar died because my brother wanted to practice an archer before creating one. I let him have a go and he ended up killing Balthy and SAVING. :|
Melissan was easier than I thought. I alternated between the Tuigan, Firetooth +5, and Darts of Wounding. Ammo used included +3 arrows, +3 bolts, arrows of dispelling and piercing, and paralytic bolts. The toughest time I had was with the Fallen Solar, but even that was relatively easy compared to going at it with a mage or melee fighter.
Okay, so I'm off to solo a Necromancer using Refinements. =)

Grats
Surrounded Abazigal as in he couldn't move? That's pretty hilarious. Woulda though Melissan would be tough but I guess if you're hitting her at range she isn't the best at chasing you down to destroy you with her melee attack.
Moving into ToB, didn't really get to experience improved Yaga because the increased army spawns crashed my computer, so I had to CNTRL-Y them
Draconis and Abazigal ended up being a lot easier than I thought. I was pretty worried about their self healing but I guess you really can't run from archers. I heard Improved Abazigal was extremely hard but I'm guessing archers have an advantage here, since nobody in there dispells your Imp haste it's very easy to run around the pinging them down as opposed to being a melee character that has to risk getting hit.
Would be a much tougher fight if they improved Abazigal's AI also: he doesn't melee enough. The chance of anything getting past a high level character's saves is EXTREMELY low. And the one time he actually got a hold on me somehow, I didn't die because he only meleed twice during it.
