Hi folks, I have NWN2 through SoZ on my new laptop, and it runs great, but there is a long lag between launching the application (a few minutes, maybe up to 3-5) and the moment when Atari logo shows up. It goes fast from there. Is there an easy explanation/fix, or is that just how it is?
NWN2 starts very sloooowly?

That is not typical.
Are you completely patched? The delay could be your cd/dvd drive spinning up and checking for the disc otherwise.
The last patch released (v1.23) removed the disc check.
Other than this, can you list your system specs?

Yep, I am all patched up. I am on Windows 7, and I will get the rest of the specs later tonight. It's not a biggie, but if it can be addressed that would be great.

To a certain extent that seems normal, I have to wait a bit as well for the game to start. But 3-5 minutes seems rather excessive. It's only about 30 seconds to a minute for me.

I think the first time was the longest, it settled into much less tedious waiting interval now. Sorry I didn't post right away, got distracted.

NWN 2 also takes forever and a day to load and it runs fine after that.... I tried the game on two different laptop / desktop and it still does -- oh well...

I guess it would help if you listed your system specs.

i7 8 core 2.6 MHZ 6 gb of main ram ATI 5870 with 4 GB VRAM 1 TB HD WIN XP SP3 and lastest ATI drivers.... Have any guesses why NWN 2 run slow? I also ran it on a Du0 2.4 with 1 GB of VRAM and 2 GB of system RAM and NWN 2 still does that....

As soon as you see the golden pointer, you can click on the [ESC] key a half dozen times and get right to the menu. My main wait is for a specific saved game to load... it isn't just the areas, it is the number of characters and all the stuff they are carrying that has to be accounted for.

Getting to the pointer shouldn't take more than a minute or so. Your backup system is better than mine, so it probably isn't the system specs.
The only mods I have in my override folders are the crafting and booty mods. Do you have something extra (colors, armor, whatever) in the override folders that the game also has to load during the start-up time?

With loading times, I find what helps is to move all the saves but the last one in some other location if you need them for future use.
