But do most players actually want realistic looking combat?
I do and since it's me it automatically qualifies as most.

Why are you always the one with the homophobic comments?
Well, you're alone. Most of us don't give a damn, and certainly wouldn't sacrifice voice acting for cool-looking armor. If that's what you prefer, you're playing the wrong company's games.

I don't try I was just raised around 4 really offensive brothers.
Apparently I am. Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect 1, Dragon Age Origins, all these games had plenty of armor with different looks that I could choose from. Guess if Dragon Age 2 is gonna be like Mass Effect 2 I'll get to choose from 3 different armor pieces per body part and get to pick up heat clips

Yeah, because wouldn't all rather have proper medieval armor over quality voice acting. You can easily tell which one breaks gameplay experience more than the other.
Bad voice acting can make a game even better.

You represent no one! *Continues to hit MadCat until he realizes that only Bioware can represent the majority.*

I'm a bit curious why you keep bringing up voice acting quality in this disucssion. One has nothing to do with the other in this instance, the way the armor looks is simply the style and design the artists took. The money and time is already seperated to the artists for their bulding of the models, we just want them to obtain a more reaslistic look.

Bah, BioWare's in Canada, no one follows Canadians.

in fact, everything shoud have spikes on it, that would be awesome

It's not like this is real life. These things don't slip out. You have to type them. In fact, you even added your own little censoring. Very intentional, and you know it's wrong, so just stop.
Having more armor isn't the same as having realistic armor and combat, which is what OP is talking about. Most people where absolutely fine with the armor models and combat animations (er, for the most part).

Oh, sorry for not making sense
Also, I need to point out that real combat doesn't look that cool. Not if you're fighting for your life, anyway.

Well yeah. I'm not saying it's tourrettes. Just meant instead of saying like "I'd rather talk an idiot" I say "I'd rather talk like a fa##&%".
Exactly most people were fine with the armor models in ORIGINS. Dragon Age 2 is completely different art style with completely different armor.

Canadians are part of your dietary supplement. They contain vitamins A, D, B2 , B3, B5- B7, B12.
As far as entertainment goes, they're ok.

Oh, sorry for not making sense...I was referencing OP's suggestion to not hire "famous" voice actors (and I can only assume he's talking about DAO, not ME2, and am inferring he means prolific voice actors, as opposed to celebrity ones), and instead hire this Mike Loades guy to make combat look real.
Also, I need to point out that real combat doesn't look that cool. Not if you're fighting for your life, anyway.
Alright, makes a bit more sense.
And since we're not fighting for our lives in the game, I can say real combat looks cool.
