You could get away with it, to be honest. The entire reason the Reaper woke up in the first place was for a boss fight, imo.
Another tough point is deciding on who to pick for what assignments to decide who lives and who dies.

You could pull it off pretty well if you just had the Reaper never wake up, as you said. After all, it's not finished being built, as noted in some of the dialogue which you could include to explain the situation.
That won't ruin it? There's no other real climax save the base explosion.

You could splice in other scenes of action to make the escape from the Collector Base more of a climax.

That's not a bad idea. I could make an overlong dash for the ship. Thank you.

I'd say that you could cut back and forth to shots of different team members pinned down in different places to show that they are all in a fight for their lives.
That would allow you to include shots from the "human reaper" fight without having to dwell on it.

The real tension comes from the whole "will they die or not" stuff. So if it was a really dangerous mission with lots of characters dying, it would add to the tension. From a story perspective, it should seem like the good guys are way outnumbered. The scene with the biotic shield does a good job of showing this idea.

Any suggestions on who should die? I let the geth, the old guy, the biker chick and Miranda go because I didn't really like them. I could let everyone die and make a new character for ME3? I'm not sure how to let everyone survive. I assume it has to do with collecting all the ship upgrades.

I'd keep Legion alive as he might have some relevence in ME3. Miranda can go, Jack can go, and I'd keep Mordin alive if you can. I'd kill off Jacob, maybe. And perhaps have a few other characters nearly die. (You could use the part where the Squad Leader gets shot for this, but having them turn out okay in the end.)

Did you do all of the upgrades and loyalty missions? If so, then not many of your characters will die.
I would suggest letting characters die who seem to be at the end of their "narrative arch" meaning that they have accomplished what they had to do and are mostly "done" with their plots.
I would say Thane, Zaeed, & Samara could all die w/o being missed as long as they have completed their loyalty missions.
maybe Kasumi or Jacob. Garrus could die too, but I wouldnt want to kill him. I'd leave Legion alive. I guess Kasumi could die too. Its really up to you. There is no right answer. But I figure some characters might have more to do in their narrative lives... Mordin might still have more genophage stuff to do. Grunt is still a kid, Tali is still involved in the Quarian stuff. Miranda is still involved in the Cerberus plot.
Having Miranda with you after killing the boss reaper might be cool to include the part where she hangs up on the illusive man...

There is a thread on this forum called "The Guide to the Omega 4 Relay Mission" If you read it, it will tell you how to get the live/die outcome you want.

That's a very good point on how to pick. I kinda liked Samara. Zaeed can definately go. I put his death in the Heroes vid, it's a good death. You're probably right with Legion and Mordin. Jack can go. Thane can go. Never Garrius or Tali, they made the game for me. I'd like to kill of Miranda, but again you're probably right, she might show up in ME3. Thanks for the thread heads up. That's exactly what I needed.

It would be neat if you could show a squad member stuck in those vents

Yes, the rescue and trip back to the ship with the survivors would be a perfect ending.

I'd have someone die on the ship, maybe Jack, and someone die for each job. Thane could do the leader and vents jobs and not make Shepard look like an idiot. Miranda makes some sense for the biotic specialist, she is engineered for greatness, someone can be taken by the swarms, Zaeed, Samara, Jacob, etc. Maybe you can edit it so that Garrus as the 2nd team leader actually gets someone else shot in the stomach. Consult the guide Ecael has on the top of the "Mass Effect 2 Official Campaign Quests and Storylines (Spoilers Warning)" index to get your results.
Will do that right now.

Playing as Jacob or Tali or someone crawling around in the vents could be cool too. Match up that dialog to some visuals, you know?

I'm trying to get an eye on Mordin by unhooking the camera. Everyone keeps dying though before I can get any good footage.

All done, starting to post now. The uncut version isn't together yet, but the episodes are done. Enjoy, I'll add a link to my sig once there all up. It's gonna take awhile. I have to convert them all to smaller files for youtube. Check out GifMike's YouTube channel here to be one of the first viewers.
