Hello. When I run the dedicated server, it seems to crash or hang at intermittent intervals. This seems to happen every hour or two or three on average. I am trying to play through the included campaigns, Mask of the Betrayer, and Storm of Zehir.
One thing that happens is that the loading screen will say something like "waiting for 3 out of 8 players to finish loading" when there are fewer than 8 players connected to the server. I have to press alt-F4 and restart the client to continue the game. I am not sure if this is a client or server issue.
What can I do to improve the stability of the server? Would running it on a specific CPU core help? What about running it using compatibility options? Would it help to run it on a virtual machine that runs no other applications? Does it make a difference whether I run the server in "\\Program Files\\Atari\\Neverwinter Nights 2\\" or "\\Program Files\\Atari\\Neverwinter Nights 2 - Dedicated Server\\" ? Is there anything else I can do to improve the stability of the server?
Thanks in advance,
Hal

Dedicate a core or two to the application.
Also, what system specs are you running it on?
Don't worry about the player count being wrong... it's been like that in my experience since NWN came out.
Also, you should research NWNx4... it makes improvements to NWN2 coding which can eliminate some crashes, in addition to improving area load times.

Yes, you should use nwnx4 with xp_bugfix -- www.nwnx.org. (Check out the 'development' forum under 'nwnx4' in the forums section.) xp_bugfix is an addon that will fix a number of known crash issues in the server.

Do you ever get an error message when the server crashes?
There's a specific directory you need to look in... can never remember it.
