Okay. The gauntlet has been thrown down. Garret Hawke cosplay at SDCC 2011.

Someone's probably already on it.

I can't.  I'm not pretty or beardy enough :P  But my best friend and I are going as Katara and Toph, respectively, for SDCC 2011, and I want to see a Hawke there.

If they showed us what a female Hawke looked like I would consider it.

You know what would be awesome? This year, there was a group photo of about 25 Harley Quinn's. A group photo of Hawke's would be epic.

Any time you meet another person cosplaying from the same thing you are it's pretty fun. So yeah, a Hawke Flock would be fun times.

The characters look really awesome, and Im all for them to have a very disctintive highly stylized shape, according to race.
Regarding general art style, Im not that crazy about the "Throne of Blood" reference, but if you devs wanted to go over the top its a good source I guess...  AS cautionary tales go, Id much prefered youd stay with the gritty, grim, bloody look but more realistic, as in Polanskis "Macbeth"
but that would have made you keep more or less the same style as Origins, I guess...
Hope it doesnt get too cartoony, thats all.
Also, a kind of a let down is knowing we are only -or "mostly"- gonna see Kirkwall,,, I figured we could have gone places... The Free Marches are extensive...

The Qunari female is impressive, especially if she fights without armor. Evading blows is better than taking hits in heavy plate.

yeah, yeah, Sten gave a monologue about women not fighting but there's always an exception to the rule. A warrior priest, maybe.

a renegade

A renegade is fine - whatever it takes to get a female Qunari in my party!

What I meant is, it's fun for those of us in costume. You already know you have something in common and it's fun to see how they built their costume and how it might differ from your interpretation. Besides if you are two different characters from the same franchise it's also awesome because then you can take in-character pictures and stuff.

2008 was the year of TDK Joker. So many goddamn Jokers walking around, not having the slightest clue as to how to act as the TDK Joker.

@David Gaider

In this podcast they talked about the Face morphing in DA2, please tell me i will be able to add a nice beard to my character and still be able to use the mouth and cheek sliders etc so i don't end up with an anorexic wide mouthed faced Hawke :P

I don't particularly care for the name Marian, but I like Garett. Not like it matters, we name them ourselves. Still, nice to know.

Marian Hawke and Garrett Hawke.  OK, BioWare, you get props from me for coming up with default Hawke names that don't sound stupid.  Because I tried with a friend, and it just degenerated into silliness.

It's not really very important, no, but it's interesting and I like to see what the writers imagine the PC's name would be. Even if I don't use the defaults.

Love the news that DA2 will have different rigs/animations for each gender (and race too?). It'd be cool to see male and female characters move differently, maybe even have slightly different "bored" animations (the ones that play when your character's standing still for a while - don't know what they're really called).

Also, a more dark and distinctive look for the game sounds good. I hope it's not going to be totally unrelieved darkness, though - it'd be more effective to intersperse it with some "lighter" scenes. The mention of "Throne of Blood" seems to suggest that at the very least, DA2 will feature a lot more fog... :P (I wonder whether Hawke's story will take a Macbeth-like turn somewhere, too?)

It doesn't seem clear whether or not the majority of the game will take place in Kirkwall. If that is the case, I'm hoping that it'll be more expansive and fleshed-out than the towns and cities in DA:O. Denerim was a pretty typical fantasy-RPG city, but it sounds like Kirkwall will have a very different feel to it. I'd rather have one large, detailed, visually distinctive place to explore than a series of generic-looking places.

Idle animations. Yes that would be nice.

Shame they aren't downloadable, it'd be good to listen to when walking to work.

Athkatla and Baldur's Gate come to mind, from the BG series, as does the beseiged city of Saradush to a lesser extent.  I LOVED Athkatla; the city itself had such great atmosphere, and some pretty memorable districts and characters.  The Cowled Wizards and the skinner murders certainly come vividly to mind.

Qunari female = hotness. Totaly want to romance one.
As for all the other races - I don't really see the difference. Sure they are not exactly the same, but the difference seems more like "changed the artist" not "changed anatomy".
