Forget the other stuff, those may change. But like I said on a another thread, the new art style is pretty much set in stone. I don't have to play the game to see this change, I've already seen in on Hawke's ridiculous armor and the other screenshots (or whomever it belongs to, I hope to the Queen's arse that I can change it!). At this point I couldn't care less for rebuttals...
Whatever, they haven't lost a customer anyways...

Shame they aren't downloadable, it'd be good to listen to when walking to work.

This will cause some laughter in the Polish version, given "Marian" is male name there.David Gaider wrote...

They'll probably change it. And how male is male? Elliot or Charlie or Chris are all male names here, but we allow them to be used on girls, too.

Really? I didn't know that. Do they not do the trendy "naming your girl child a boy name" thing in Poland?
I kind of feel bad for boys. Girls keep stealing all their names.

Male to the point only males get it. If i'm not mistaken it's an equivalent of female name Maria which in turn is Polish version of "Mary".Saibh wrote...

It's a diminuitive of Mary, apparently. In English anyway.

Well then, if they are "not necessarily" to scale then are they or are they not to scale? In other words, are the DA2 elves the same size they're in DAO, or bigger, or smaller?Victor Wachter wrote...

Hmmm looks like elves aren't really smaller than humans anymore ? merely thinner.
Images are not necessarily to scale.
The way the presented concept art is now, there's very little "distinct racial physiology" in the elves, compared to humans right next to them. Especially the females which, if it wasn't for the ears, appear nearly identical. But even for the males it doesn't seem to extend beyond little less developed musculature. If their overall size is also made similar to humans then i'd have to say, the end effect is opposite of what the developers claim they're trying to achieve. The new "race appearance" is less distinct than the old one (if taken at face value i.e. presuming these are actually reasonably close to scale) and it also does nothing to make DA look specific and distinguishable from other games -- if anything, it instead invites comments about Lineage 2:

Should I take this to mean female humans and elfs fight in high heels? Because I cannot help but notice they are both standing with their feet in the high heel Barbie feet position. Please. I beg you. Don't do that to us. It was good that the women in Dragon Age wore real armor, just like the men. Please, please, please don't high-heel-ify us.
Otherwise I like the concept art, except it makes me sad I can't be a dwarf.

Ah, but high heels are marketable! The focus testing proves it! Every female in games has to have built in high heels no matter how absurd it looks!

No I think that's just an artist thing. It makes feet and legs look more graceful for women and it's harder to draw a foot from a frontal or 3/4 view if it's planted on the ground and make it look nice. Men's feet are easier to do flat because they're bulkier.
My 2 cents as someone who draws. Sometimes.

And yet it was managed with the female qunari and dwarf. There's no real need to make the female elf and human stand the way they are.

Their feet are a lot closer to men's feet than elf or human females' feet are. Bulkier, and so forth. At least that's my guess...I really know next to nothing about art.Sjofn wrote...

The dwarf's feet you are also looking down on from a higher angle so you avoid that problem. The Qunari has shoes on. It's easy to do with shoes, especially ones with a simple silhouette as hers have. Believe me or not, whatever. I'm just saying I would probably have done the same and it wouldn't have meant I thought she was wearing heels.

Yay about: the female Qunari and elves don't just look like short humans with a tiny point on their ears (I love the nose bridge).
I do hope that the textures for the eyes vary by race this time. Would like to see at least one of the races with a smaller/larger than average pupil. Also hope that the elves stay roughly the same height as they were in the last game. Unless the elves of the Free Marches diet allows them to grow taller meaning in the last game we were just see the result of poor nutrient in the last game. It's possible, they were second class citizens.
For the artists though, the female humans and elves do seem to have misplaced their ribcage.
