Everybody seems to assume Hawke will be adult in the game, and then we will start the adventure.
My prediction is that we will start as a young teenager in the game in Lothering, get to know some of the background story of DA1, new players learn basic rules, and then the Blight arrives. Depending on the choices made during the first level(yes first level I will call it since the game will be combat orientated) our character will become a rogue, a mage or warrior during years that we will skip from first to the next level. Thus we will learn that 10years span was overhyped.
My prediction about the "10 years span": we start as a teenager in Lothering "demo" then skip several years to real game.

Probably right. I could deal with it, but I hope Hawke isn't that young. I'm hoping he's in his forties to be honest.

Well but Fable played that whole "from a child to an old man" gag. You played as a child for, like the OP said, what a 10 minute training session and then you "vanished" for 10 years and were an adult.
I suspect the 10 years of Hawke we see will pretty much be 18-28 or something so they don't have to monkey with his apearance though so while Lothering will be the "tutorial" session you won't look all that different.

I think starting between 22 -25 would be about right.

I think BioWare will go with the easy route and fast-forward several years here and there to preserve the flow of the story. I do hope that we play as an adolescent for longer than an hour, though.

How about playing 3 hours per year? Kind of a nice brisk through Hawke's life that way.

don't think so.. the "gray" you see in those screenshots are most likely the reflection of light or another gimmick that makes the hairs seem more alive.

I hope we don't skip through time between 'chapters' or anything. Assassin's Creed 2 did the same thing, and it completely destroyed the story for me. How was I supposed to attach myself to a character who wanted revenge when I felt he was just spending every 2 years between missions twiddling his thumbs?

It's cursed underwear that is grafted to your body when you're in the womb of your mother by the chantry, they don't want anybody to be nude at the risk of.. *gasp* a blight starting for being naked.

I'm pretty sure i've seen David Gaider state that you do get to see the full ten years but it might not be shown in order.
