Alrighty, I decided to take a look at the DA Toolset today and start with the level editor because in my experience with NWN2's toolset, that is the most taxing part of the modding process (at least for someone with my non-artsy skilltype).
So, I was able to figure out NWN 2's Exterior area creation without toooo much trouble ... but my try so far with DA's is leaves me feeling this is less intuitive.
So can anyone point me in the basic direction for mastering the following:
Manipulating the camera position, angle and perspective in the exterior level creation process. Is there something I'm missing? Clickingthe middle mouse button "moves" the terrain it seems and scrolling scrolls, but how do I rotate? What are the tips for quick and easy manipulation of the terrain so I can get a good angle on everything.
Also, is there anyway to brighten this up a bit so it's easier to see? Like changing the surrounding nothingness to a bright white or something?
Need REALLY basic help

There are two buttons at the top of the screen labelled ALT and WASD. You can't really rotate in ALT, but it's faster to move around. The controls are all a combination of alt, control, wasd and the mouse buttons. Look up '3d controls' on the wiki for more.
As for brightness, there is a button labelled something like "Show Full Brightness." I don't think you can turn the blackness white.

Can anyone help me find that brightness button please? It's so dark and I think I've checked all of them. Can't seem to find it!

Try "View Models Fully Lit". That's row 3 icon 4 on my toolset, which is shown approximately centre top of the wiki toolbar visual.
Next to it is "Display Lightmaps On/Off" which you'll often need to use after lightmapping.
I find that levels always look a bit dark in the toolset.

Yeah it would be easier for a DA modding noob if it were brighter, so at least I could see what I was screwing up.
Do y'all know of any videos detailing the process of creating an exterior level from start to finish -- ground moulding, texture painting, water putting, model placing, etc? I've seen a goodly many videos but most are either indoor or only do bits and pieces of the outdoor. Such a resource would be invaluable.
