People/humans are animals, too. I think it would be awesome if elf ears acted like that instead.

Egad, I give up.

All this talk of elf ears reminds me of World of Warcraft, a sad elf's ears would bend down and make them have a sad puppy look while a happy elf's ears would stand more upright.

They also bounce when you run. It's kind of hypnotic.

those are boobs not ears

I'd like to know how you see your own character's boobs with a trailing camera. Plus I'm female, I'm immune to that sort of hypnosis.

You say that but maybe you're just too hypnotized that you don't realise you're hypnotized?

actually that is not WoW style but more something you see in a few anime's

Yeah, I don't watch anime. I outgrew it after watching DBZ when I was twelve and realized that every episode involved lots of screaming.

there are hundreds of different kind of anime both in art style and storywise

I HATE dragonballs and pokémon with passion, but most of my favorite series are anime, and most of them are dark or mature or both

Most elven NPCs had very modest sized, upright ears.

"Knife ear" can simply refer to them being pointed.

Sure, but Shianni sure as hell didn't have modest size ears, they were big and pointy. No different than the elves pictured.

The wide-set, large eyes, flat, cat-like brow/ nose and looped braids are pretty much exactly the facial structure of the Na'avi.

If you see Na'vi, that's fine, they just don't strike me as Na'vi. I can see the similarities you point out, but Na'vi is not the first thing I see.

Edit: messed up on quote boxes.

Yeah, I know I'm stereotyping it but the few others I've watched weren't that different. Bezerk or whatever it was called was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too graphic for my tastes and still had screaming syndrome, DBZ has the screaming syndrome that can last entire episodes (the episodes when they were fighting one guy in the same scene for 10+ episodes were horrendously boring) and something about a half demon / human guy that goes around with screaming syndrome and killing demons and such.

I haven't had much of a good sample size but I only noticed lots of screaming form the ones I watched.

I think it's the shape of the eyes and ears as well as the wide, shallow nasal bridge that reminds us of Na'vi. That and their overall build. They have a feline look to them. I see it much more on the female than the male, however.

What? What's wrong with different species being different? Do you not like aliens in scifi? Qunari horns? Must everything be human? I don't understand.

Commented on the Podcast thread, so, I'll keep this short since it will likely get buried under the Anime discussion anyway. But, I have to admit, aside from loving all the Character/Race examples, I found myself really crushing on the Qunari female.

Maybe I just have a thing for Tall, Strong women, but I find myself kind of hoping that we come across a Female Qunari in the Kirkwall Gulag place mentioned in the Podcast, help liberate her (if she's not a Guard or something) and, well, one thing leads to another and Bamf! Love interest.

I know, *not* very original, and I know Gaider and company can do better then that scenario; still, kind of loving the idea for Romancing a Qunari. Would certanly be a huge step away from Leliana, so it would be interesting to say the least. Remind me to read up on what the Qun says about this kind of thing...

But according to the writers, when you're in the Qun you don't develop relationships the same way. Having a relationship with a Qunari is like having a close friendship.

You could say that by the end of DA:O, my male Cousland was in a relationship with Sten.

The more Mary says about Qunari the more I'm convinced Sten loved my Warden.

If anyone missed that thread, she said basically that Qunari do love, they just don't associate love with sex. So yes, a Qunari romance is essentially what we would consider a deep friendship.

I guess he means Tal'vashoth types of qunari. Not all qunari like and follow the Qun, some do abandon it, as we saw plenty of mercenaries in Fereldan and one really self-centered merchant qunari.

Of course, you could always have a romance with a Tal-Vashoth who has rejected the Qun at least partly on the grounds of that whole love/sex issue.  I'd really like a Tal-Vashoth party member.

Sure. I don't know if Tal'Vashoth would then start to have the same concept of romantic love as a human, but I would be all for a LI option like that.

Sten/Warden:  The epicest bromance ever.  So bromantic.

Not all humans have the same concept of romance, not all humans associate love with sex either. Likely there are some qunari here and there who share the same ideas of humans and vice versa. I wouldn't call it a stretch for a qunari LI.

But say you're raised from birth in the Qun and then you leave, no matter how much you try to avoid it you're still going to have a lot of the Qun's principles and disciplines seared into your mind and your subconcious. It's not out of the window, no. Yet it would probably be one of the difficultys of a Qunari romance.

You seriously want to see elves with swiveling ears like a donkey or rabbit?

Not in Middle Earth or works that are already in place (would be odd to see it put into DA), but I don't have a problem with it. There have already been many fantasy works with creatures/people having such ears.

Asala worked wonders for that.
