Maybe I just have a thing for Tall, Strong women, but I find myself kind of hoping that we come across a Female Qunari in the Kirkwall Gulag place mentioned in the Podcast, help liberate her (if she's not a Guard or something) and, well, one thing leads to another and Bamf! Love interest.
But according to the writers, when you're in the Qun you don't develop relationships the same way. Having a relationship with a Qunari is like having a close friendship.
You could say that by the end of DA:O, my male Cousland was in a relationship with Sten.
Appreciate all the observations along with Canada's. I completely understand that the Qun would make a Qunari Romance, even if the Qunari Female in question was Tal'vasoth, unusual to say the least. And, as others have pointed out, a Romance doesn't immediately need to be associated with Sex. Don't get me wrong, after seeing the Fem Qunari concept art I would certainly be tickled pink to see my Hawke get tumbled by his Female Qunari LI, however that's not the *only* thing I look for in BioWare's romances. Not every Romance *has* to end in Sex to be emotionally moving. Great examples are Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect 2.
In Knights you fall in Love with Bastila and she you, but the most you ever do is kiss and it's still an awesome Romance plot. In Mass Effect 2 if you choose to do the Paragon Romance with Jack you get the most beautiful heart stirring culmination scene that only involves kissing and then some snuggling. It's more about Trust then Sex.
I would imagine that a Romance with a Qunari Female, either dedicated to the Qun or not, would be a deep relationship, but more then that would be complicated and not just for the reasons we got from The Sten. Still, given BioWare's awesome story telling and character development it would not surprise me if they somehow managed to make non-painful Love Making an option in a Human/Qunari Romance.

Yeah, I believe this also (considering I prefered the Garrus romance scene the most from all the other Mass Effect 2 romance scenes) but I just don't believe that the Qunari actually believe in love. Although I might've just misunderstood the intentions of the post.

I'll tell you a secret: Qunari sex is not actually painful/violent. Sten was joking.
The reason sex is separate from love for them is because they don't choose who they mate with and they don't raise their own kids in family units. It's more like dog or horse breeding. They probably don't know their mate and never see them again afterward.

If you've ever read James Clavell's Shogun, I think the qunari ideas about love are less in line with the typical WRPG/Wester Fantasy's ideas about love, and more in line with Mariko's initial ideas about love in the novel.

What, your game didn't have a Sten love scene?
Serious answer:

Oh I
have a question. Was Sten being serious about "the Qunari act"? I can't
tell if he has a wickedly deadpan sense of humor or whether he's just
dead serious and occasionally unintentionally hilarious.
I wouldn't put it past him to mess with Morrigan as payback for her teasing, though.
He was, indeed, messing with Morrigan. If "the Qunari act" were deadly to females where do little Qunari come from? You'd think there would be a lot less of them, somehow...

He growled at Dog a few times before I intervened.
Maybe that is the Qunari mating call and I intervened too early?

I actually have read both Clavells Novel and seen the Mini-Series based on it. Novel was, of course, far better. But, that really does get me thinking. Having speant three years in Japan I fell in Love with their Fuedal History, and, yes, many of the outlooks on Love and Sex were designed to keep things as harmonius as possible. So, if the Female Qunari in question holds to the Qun I could very much imagine the outlook being the same. Thank you for the reference. Food for thought. Though, hopefully, Hawke's romance would end better then Blackthorn's romance with Mariko...

"Hey thats a nice dress!" versus "Wow...that armor looks...heavy."
"Y'know you have beautiful eyes." versus "Damn that axe is sharp looking."
"I love what you're doing with your hair." versus "Those daggers are pretty deadly looking."
"I really like you...alot...and I think we should be together." versus "You're a commendable warrior with much honor kadan."
...not really seeing how a Qunari romance could be added and still feel like a romance.
and uh,,,

Which means that the average Qunari woman is probably a lot more feminine then the warrior-women of Ferelden with their extremely broad shoulders, boy hips, and misshapen faces.
Your upbringing has nothing to do with how your body is shaped bro.
That said, Anora and Morrigan had excellent faces, and Leliana if you look at some of the mods for her.

If you play with swords all the time and spend your time roughing in the wilderness, you look and act a bit different then you do if you spend most of your time in more peaceful pursuits, such as being a non-travelling merchant, seamstress, etc.

Granted, there will be some differences.
But life as a soldier doesn't change the shape of your shoulders/hips/face. That was just bad design on Biowares part.

Dorfs are a ok
humans ... in this generation of games youd have to be trying to screw up humans to screw up humans so they get my seal of approval.
male qunari looks like a neanderthal and i normally dont do this but the famale design looks sexy as hell in a Raquel Welch, one million years B.C kind of way
