I just thought i'll post my system specs to aid in the patchin of the game and my issues that im having
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090804-1435)
Processor: Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.16GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 3326MB RAM ( 75mb auto matically being deducted for windows xp usage)
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 (6.14.0011.9107 (English)
SoundMAX HD Audio (on board)
Ok i've been playing the game so far the graphics are fine.. and everything runs smothly.. Only thing is in the opening movie the audio sync was off a bit but i've read on the forums that others have been experiencing this also. Another thing is the Crazy load times.. Which started when i entered ozgramar (excuse the spellin if i spelled it wrong).. Is there anything i can do to correct this?
My system specs.. this should be more than enought.. Right?

two things... update sound drivers or replace that on-board piece of garbage and set your processor affinity to the 2nd core only... that's helped with the load times for quite a few people and those of us with single core systems don't tend to have that problem until 10+ hours of constant operation

you can do processor affinity with XP... just pull up the task manager and find the process, right click it and find the "processor affinity" tab on the dropdown, deselect the primary core (processor 1)

If nothing else, be sure your Soundmax drivers are the latest from the system or motherboard manufacturer. ADI which makes the Soundmax chipset itself doesn't supply drivers to consumers.

It's hard to find a new driver for this onboard audio.. i might as well get a new one because i had like cuts or lags in cinematic in a previous game (oblivion)... and i fixed it.. i don't feel like going over this long process again.. however the Sound is not so bad... as a matter of fact i haven't even gone far into the game yet.. but so far the dialogs has been good i just notice a bit of lag in the sound in the opening cinematic so if they are more cinematic might which I'm willing to bet i might as well buy a new card asap.

how much do you know about the inside of your computer? Creative Labs is the acknowledged source for audio cards. I recommend the X-Fi's, with the Extreme Gamer Edition being the lowest one I'd recommend and it has the added advantage of working with any system that has a PCI slot (white slot roughly 3" long) Most systems have one of these.
On the off chance that you don't have a PCI slot, you may instead have a PCI-E 1.0 slot (dark colored slot around a 1" long) and the best compatable card for that format is the X-Fi Titanium

got a nice sound card (Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio) even tho the opening cinematic is Out of Sync at one part (the part where the Ugly look darkspawn tries to gank the bearded guy from behind.. that's where the sound is out of sync) I don't know their names yet i didn't get past the beginning yet.. i'm wanted to get a new sound card anway.. I think this is a universal issue I've hear others have the same issue

did you run their software autoupdater to get the latest drivers?

yes

mmm... I see what the issue is... I think. Compare the specs between the
X-Fi Extreme Audio and the X-Fi XtremeGamer
The key difference is that the Extreme Audio doesn't have the on-board RAM. That's the only real significant difference (and the additional cost covers that)

so r you saying the card is not good enough for the game?
#17
Posté 11 novembre 2009 - 10:36
Pretty much. As the Xtreme Audio version of the X-Fi lacks the full chipset available on the XtremeGamer and Titanium series cards. I've a Titanium myself, and I've got to say it's one of the best choices I made in building my PC.

You will be *perfectly* fine. I am running:
Vista 64
Intel E8500 (just like you)
RAM 6gb
Video Nvidia 8800GT 512mb
SB XFi sound.
I have all the graphics maxed, but with antialiasing off (none). I can likely pump it up a bit as I seem to have the bandwidth to.

it's not the graphics i'm worried about and the performance.. i'm good on that.. it's the sound. I just wanna sit confortable and play ... don't need no sound problems messing up my relaxation.. besides this is a new computer i build at the beginning of this year.. o well i'll buy this

Yeah, you want to get an XtremeGamer or a Titanium... The Gamer edition is around $40 cheaper hence my original recommendation

If you dont mind waiting a day or two for it to arrive moe you can probably get one off Newegg much cheaper then from your store.

i ordered.. it off of amazon just now.. it usually will come in a few days i wont' be long i would most likely get it by Sunday...
I have a question.. when u install these cards .. my order in which i did it was this
well of coarse i installed the card manually
then drivers right.. i did'nt really disable anything
when installing the driver it automatically disable the onboard drivers right?.. i tested and it seem to do it.. when i did my card installation by plugging the sound jack in the onboard audio port
i just don't want no hard ware conflcts or some thing else..
any tips might be appreciated.. i reverted back and uninstalled everthing.. and onboard is now currently working,

When installing a new card, it is best to disable the onboard item in the CMOS. Especially if it is giving you issues. Then remove the drivers complete.y before you install the new card.
