Personally, I disliked almost every single character in Origins, with the exception of Oghren and the player character's dog.

So, I hope that BioWare does one of the few things to commemorate Oghren, my most favorite video game dwarf:

1. A cameo appearance in which Oghren speaks to Hawke, giving Hawke a mission or a task or something along those lines. (DA2 shouldn't take place too long after the events in Origins, so Oghren should still be alive.)

2. If Oghren can't speak to Hawke, then some in-game characters should reference him as being one of the companions to the Warden who ended the previous Blight. References to Oghren should be omni-present, not a single one-liner mentioning his name. (This should happen if and when Hawke travels to Orzammar.)

3. Or, Oghren should come back as a fully-fledged party character, allied to Hawke. (This is the best option, in my opinion.)

But, regardless of BioWare elects to do, I hope Oghren's name comes back somehow. He and his drunken aloofness was one of the highest points in Origins, and BioWare needs to bring him back!

At #1, that's fine. I didn't like Oghren much but meeting up with him once wouldn't be too bad.

At #2, that's a terrible idea. Oghren was not particularly integral to saving the world, and constantly mentioning him would make it seem like he actually did something.

At #3, please no. Just...I do not want that dwarf in my party ever again.

Since Oghren can't die, it's quite possible he'll be back in some capacity

Really? I do believe I've killed him.

Edit: And he can die in Awakening.

Oghren should be back in some capacity after he gets sober.

Oghren: Hur hur hur, who do we have here. You're the Warden, aren't ya?
Hawke: Who?
Oghren: Oh.. wrong game, I must've took the wrong path to get to Vigil's Keep. Mind pointing me the direction? I need to please the fans. I'm a fan favorite, you know.
Hawke: Yeah, getting to Vigil's Keep should just involve going east but shouldn't you be in Orzammar right now?
Oghren: Yeah, I should but since the Grey Warden is spending a few hours talking to Bhelen and Harrowmont I might as well set myself up in Awakening.
Hawke: That's cool.

its possible that alot of dwarves know his name, seeing as he was one of the greatest warriors of Orzammar before... y'know, he screwed up with the king (or whatever you call that again).

I loved Oghren in Origins but he was so damn cranky in Awakening. I got a little tired of having to handle him with kid gloves. You'd think a guy like that could take a joke. Anyway he's been a companion in both Origins and Awakening, I think he's had his time in the spotlight.

In Awakening Oghren was not so special. Far better in Origins. Still, it would be nice to see him... PROVIDED that doesn't provoke a "why him, omg I hate you bioware" reaction to the hater... oh but that always happens...

This.

I loved Oghren in Origins, I'd always tease him and he'd laugh it off instead of Awakening Oghren getting angry at me and disapproving.

No. Just no. He was good in Origins, awful in Awakening. He has had his time. It's time for someone else.

No. No. No. I didn't like him in Origins and I hated him with a passion in Awakening.

I would like an Oghren cannon cameo:

Oghren squished by a barrel. For good.

Am I the only one who adores Oghren? Oghren is a character that every video game should have.

Oghren is a dwarf that almost every video game and fantasy book HAS and exactly that´s why lots of us don´t like him. ;)

Not the only one, no. I can link you to an old forum thread where I posted, on november the 30th, or something similar, that he's my favorite character, and no change was made.

He was alright in origins, atlest more than just a cheap comical relief character like in awakening, but I really wouldnt want to see him in a very active role in da2.Seeing as he has already had his share of the spotlight as pointed out.

He was fine in Origins, I liked him. Agree that he was worse in Awakening.

I don't want another drunk dwarf in my party for DA2. Varric, from the concept art, looks like the greedy kind or just a scoundrel, and I can go with that.

If any Origins character make a cameo, I vote it be Sten. Maybe you over hear qunari talking about Sten or you see him at Lothering.

Depending on when or how Hawke leaves Lothering, it's entirely possible to see Sten / Alistair / Morrigan / Leliana. Alistair and Morrigan could entirely just be waiting for the Warden who is gone in the wilderness to find some woman's necklace or something.

A hornless Qunari in DA2... That's... almost impossible! :P

(ok, now I am exaggerating a bit... a lot :o )

Though I will admit Oghren was a great 2H warrior (oddly better than Sten ...  Posted Image ) I would not like him in DA2.  I agree with some posters that new characters especially for companions need to be made.

Though I would not mind running into him, though after Lothering it sounds as the game will directly move towards the Free Marches and not hang around Ferelden ... and since Oghren is either in Ozrammar or with your Grey Warden after that (Lothering) I doubt it will happen.

Good ideas though.
