OK since this part of the forum seems a bit run down I thought I would see if it were possible to try and revive the mods that were maid for Jade Empire and maybe encourge someone to make a new one.
I once heard some people say that mods were useless for this game but I disagree I have seen things like Monkey Paw sttyle (while overpower has really cool animations) Rhino Style broght over( was originaly only a preorder bonous) I mean styles alone are worth makeing mods for but there is also Gems(we kind of use these alot and I can think of alot of effects like new and better ones for makeing the things you kill drop silver) New weapon Styles. There are ones that let you play as npcs and not to mention reskins of the player Charecter(which I think need more). I personally think one should be maid to incres the damage that folowers do so that why the can actually do some damage.
so for thos that dont like to read here is a list of reasons to mod
1 new Fighting Styles
2 New hems with new effects and different lvls and mixes of old effects
3 Techniques (the things that were like buffs
4 new flyer upgrades
5 new merchants
6 Player and follower reskins
7 play as NPC mods
8 New weapons
9 New places( I fully belive that this is possible to do)
10 new quests ( I would be amazed if this could not be done to some degree)
11 maybe new followers it seems that I had to empty 1 empty chrecter slots at the end of my closed palm ending( I mean ones with a question mark) and I know I did not miss one so that alone should make it possible to add atleast 1 new follower.
I see this game like Kotar 1 and 2 and I dont see why things like new areas and quest cant be maid for it. over all this is a fun game with a good story maybe a bit short amd have only a few places to see but definatly worth modding.
I also wanted to see if I could ge people to post their old mods on this forum(since the roiginal is now closed)

Hi everybody!
I'm currently working on a fairly large mod. It's not finished yet, so this is not a release announcement. There's still an important piece missing and for that I need a little assistance from one of you guys. The problem is, that I own the German version of JE and so I don't have an English dialog.tlk to work with. If one of you can send me a copy via email or otherwise, please PM me!
It's too early to give away everything, but here's the basic idea of the mod:
There are loads of cool combat styles in the JE world, but the player can only aquire a fraction of them. Some you cannot aquire because of your alignment. Some because you can't afford them. Either because you lack the silver, or because you lack the style points. Most you can't aquire at all. NPCs will use them, but you will not. So by the end of the game you will only have used a tiny subset of all the styles and you will have leveled even less of them. And why? Who knows. That's why.
Haven't you wondered how many different approaches to a fight there might be? What is it like to fight a slow style with a fast style? Or a fast style with a slow style? Or a weapon style with a ranged style? Or vice versa? Which styles can be stringed together to long combinations? Are there counterstyles? And what about all those demons? What is it like to play as a Fox Demon? Or a Bull Demon?
Playing the game for the story and the atmosphere is certainly nice and all, but if you're anything like me you find d***ing around a lot more fun than actually playing the game. That makes me a modder, I suppose. And so I figured: Why not play in style? Or to be more precise: Why not play in lots of styles?
For starters, I added almost all available styles to the in-game stores. I even added two new stores just for that purpose! Then I slightly modified the economy: The prices of the styles remain the same, but you now get more silver for defeating opponents and thus will be able to buy a few more styles along the way. I also made the genie's store more useful. He now buys and sells at the same rates as most other merchants in the game.
But not all styles can be bought. The alignment- or quest-related styles like Tempest or Paralyzing Palm cannot be found at stores. There is another way of aquiring new styles, however: Through combat. That's right! Simply do battle with an opponent, who uses a style that you do not yet master and you get the chance to learn that style. But there's a catch: You have to prove that your skills are superior! Should you take any damage whatsoever, your chance is gone. Stay unharmed and you'll learn! Get your ass kicked and learn nothing. You get the idea
All in all there are over 30 styles that you can learn and/or buy throughout the game. The completists among you might actually be able to aquire all of them. No promises, though!
But what good are oh so many styles, if you only have enough points to level but a handful? Now, I know there are mods out there, that increase the number of style points you get at level-up. That's a simple thing to do. Just edit StylePoints.2da. But it's kinda boring. So I went the opposite route and *reduced* the number of free points per level. Instead I added something completely new: During combat your opponents will drop style points upon defeat. Among the red orbs (health), blue orbs (chi) and yellow orbs (focus), you may find black orbs, that will add style points when you pick them up. Weak opponents may drop a single style point - if anything. But the more powerful your enemies are, the more likely they are to drop points and the more points they are going to drop. The basic idea here is the same as the one for learning new styles: You improve your combat skills by doing combat. The tougher the combat and the better you do, the bigger the payoff.
There are quite a few other things I added, while I was at it, but I'll leave it at that for now. This is - afer all - just a teaser.
Please, I really need that TLK file, to wrap things up!

Speaking of mods, I'm looking for that Wu reskin that Cute Unit made. All the links for it on the original forum are broken, so would anyone here possibly have it? Thanks!

The mod is coming along nicely. I've made a few dramatic design changes, though. So now I have quite the rewrite on my hands. Hopefully I'll finish it this month. That's not something I'd bet money on, though.
That Wu reskin, I don't know, but You can do it Yourself, if You like. Shouldn't be hard. Download JEFindRes. Look for "p_blossom*.txb" and extract the files from players.mod. Check the "Convert TXB -> TGA" box, when You do so. Those TGA files you can modify to Your heart's desire with the image editor of Your choice. Make sure to save the files as 32-Bit +RLE and with Alpha Channels. When You're done, copy them to the override folder. That's it. You can even switch back and forth between the image editor and Jade Empire, to see what looks good and what doesn't. Save the file in the image editor. Then load from a savegame in JE, so the new texture gets loaded. Rinse. Repeat. Until pretty.
The Rat Demon Transformation I'm not going to add. It's kinda stupid. Don't you think? Do you really want to be a rat? Seriously? Though at some point I considered adding it for ****s and giggles. Do you remember that weird merchant from Tien's Landing? Dawn Star remarks that he looks like a crossing between a monkey and a rat. Maybe, I thought, I should add Monkey Paw and Rat Transformation to his store. That would certainly explain a thing or two.
The Bull Demon is quite powerful. It has a small flaw, though. It's huge. So huge in fact, that you can't see your opponent anymore. Maybe I can find a way to make it semitransparent. Otherwise it's rather tricky to use...

I signed up for a new account just so I can respond to your post, pecoes. I know it won't matter much to you, but I'm very interested and hopefull that you will have this mod of yours push through to its compelete finish. 30 fighting styles you say - I haven't finished the game yet but I bet there's not that many styles on it; so I assume there will be new fighting styles, yes? I hope so. Please don't forget the drunken master style. Thanks and good luck.
By the way, how is it going for the mod?

I'm sorry for the accidental double post. I can't find the delete post button.

Sweet! I appreciate the curiosity!
This happens to be a really good day to ask about the mod, because later today I'll make the beta announcement. I really need two or three people to test the mod now. There may very well be a few bugs, flaws and quirks that I'm not yet aware of, because I'm my only playtester. If you're interested, check back in a few hours!
But one word of caution: There are no completely and utterly *new* styles in my mod. The styles I "added" are mostly the ones that were in-game already but not accessible to the player. I modified a number of styles, though... Oh and I added the four new-ish styles that a modder named Lothario created. They aren't truly new either, but he dug out some fighting moves, that weren't used by any of the in-game styles and recombined them.
The problem is, you see, that there's no tool to extract the existing animations to a 3D-Editor or export them back from such an editor into the game. Creating brand new styles is thus quite impossible. Besides, I'm first and foremost a scripter. I have no modelling skills to speak of, anyway.
But still, there's a lot of in-game styles to explore. Turns out 30 was a bit of a conservative estimate. It's more like 40 styles - and that's still without counting upgrades...
Drunken Master is in, of course. That one I modified to make it not just silly fun, but also truly useful. You can level it now. You cannot invest any style points in it, of course, since it's a temporary style. The points would be lost as soon as you switch to another style. But you can level it by using it. The longer you manage to stay in DM, the more advances are applied. After two minutes the game will tell you that you have reached "delirium" - i.e. levelled out the style completely. I'm tempted to add the occasional hiccup and burp sound effect, but adding sounds seems to be a little tricky as well... We'll see.
