I don't mean to sound dickish, but at least having Morrigan show up in DA2 only to have Hawke deal with her is a bit like having some randow Jawa confront Darth Vader in Empire Strikes Back instead of Luke- the past history between the Warden and Morrigan is prime stuff to be played with in the future IMO.

So, you're saying I should cut any references to Morrigan from DA2? Wow. That, sir, is a brave thing to request. It's like unleashing the hounds! ;)

At this point all I can say is that I personally do not believe the Morrigan fans will be disappointed by what the future has in store.

The chances of the Warden finding Morrigan in all of Thedas with no way to determine what way she went is pretty far fetched, the Warden could be heading south deeper into the wilds while Morrigan actually went north for example. The Warden will forever be haunted by whatever they've done with Morrigan and forever wonder what happened to his (her) lover (or friend, depending on circumstance).

Except that if the OGB or Morrigan are some kind of *big news* in DA2, it could be pretty far fetched to think that the Warden would not be able to find them. If the Warden heard some news about some shapeshifting dragon witches in the Free Marches, s/he might consider investigating.

But the chances of news of a shapeshifter reaching across the continent are pretty low and I'm pretty sure Morrigan would prefer to keep a low profile instead of parading around.

I think that the news of dragon shapeshifters fighting the Chantry in the Free Marches would be news that might spread across the continent. All I'm saying is that if Morrigan or the OGB were to find themselves in the public attention, the Warden would be much more likely to hear about them.

The Warden went to Orlais because other than the wilds, it's the only place where one would possibly go unless by ship. If you're looking for somebody who you know cannot purchase voyage by ship and would probably avoid the wilds due to her mother (and it being an obvious hiding spot) then you'd head to the next industrialized area on the continent. Now the Warden has to move through all of Orlais and if he doesn't find her; look elsewhere. The land is huge and the chance of finding one person is extremely unlikely.

The "GPS" ring always doesn't work completely, Morrigan didn't understand much of how it worked and the only thing it did was make you feel her regret for leaving you. It's possible that the Warden finds out how to use it but it was made by Flemeth and if Morrigan doesn't understand it, the chance of the Warden finding out isn't too high.

Your character survives, you don't know if there's more things to do or if you have a better destiny ahead. When a person accomplishes something that puts their life at risk and they have a get-out-of-jail-free-card, they aren't going to take it so they can continue doing adventures and slaying gods and such. They're doing it so they can survive, that's what the entire ritual represented: You unleash something on Thedas, yet you're allowed to live. Why can't the Warden simply settle down immediately afterwards?

I think the Morrigan/Warden story is best suited for an Origins expansion or a DLC. New players drawn to the sequal aren't going to know and care about Morrigan like Origins players did. Why have her take a significant part of that story, when the hardcore Morrigan fans would rather she stay a part of their story? Maybe my exposure to hardcore Morrigan fans is far too limited to make a judgment on that...

The thing is, new players might not meet Morrigan or have her role be a lot weaker than if they imported from Origins.

Accros the web there are "Massive" amounts of fans of Morrigan, and Mike says they have big plans for the morrigan story so by large Bio cannot ignore the masses and at some point i expect they will bring the warden and morrigan back :)

And that is the single greatest official thing I've read since DA2 was announced. My brain says "don't get excited, maybe he thinks we'll be fine with a namedrop" but my heart says "Woooooo! I'm comin' for you Morri!" :D

Seems Mike has cheered alot of fans up, lets hope they follow through. I've seen developers promise things and when they don't happen people are hurt :P but i have faith.

So what? Why introduce new players to Morrigan when it's the old players who cared about her? New players can't miss what they didn't know. Returning players, those who don't spend time on this board, but might still buy a DA title who want to know about Morrigan, could just as easily get that story from an expansion.

Morrigan sucks.

Agreed, never understood why everyone seems to like her so much (literally everyone I know who played the game adores her) I'm half way hoping for a chance to kill her in DA2 like I wanted to so very badly in origins, though that would have screwed up the DR that shouldn't be an issue for Hawke

Either way I bought the collectors edition of DAO and I was more than satisfied so I'll be doing the same for DA2

As a character, Leliana ranks higher than Morrigan for me and I adore Leliana. She's cute and shy, something I found adorable. Morrigan on the other hand, while I hate her more as a character than Leliana, is actually the romance I loved the most. It took away from the usual Bioware "romance-sex-happy time" and spinned it around.

My friends always tell me "I slept with Morrigan, that was the entire romance?" but they don't realise that the romance involving Morrigan is AFTER you've slept with her. You get to see her change as the eventual truth begins to creep on her, she tries to push you aside and prays for you to abandon her (as much as she doesn't want it) and it feels.. sad.

I was heartbroken when the truth was revealed and the epilogue with the ring hit me really hard, while Leliana is my favorite the romance for Morrigan was amazing.

(Note: I loved the Morrigan and Alistair romances)

Oh, I agree. My hope was that DA2 would allow you to play as the Warden again, but we're playing as Hawke- whatever- c'est la vie.

So unless DA3 uses the Warden as the PC again (with BioWare's full VO push, its doubtful), it would indeed seem that the best bet at having a Warden/Morrigan story continued would be in a DLC or last expansion pack for Origins. Thats what I'm really really hoping the 2/1/2011 date is- one last expack to give the Warden some closure on all things Origins. Then if BioWare wants to throw Morrigan around in DA2, so long as the Warden has some closure, go for it.

Morrigan is an interesting character, no doubt, but for myself, she is only as interesting as she is in large part to her interactions and relationship with the Warden.

...

I must take this quote to mean you know how bat**** crazy some of her fans are. And saying they won't be disappointed...is a tall order.

Maybe I should save my male Warden save after all.

I see your point, personally I just found her to be annoying with all that, but now it makes a bit more sense to me I didn't really like Leliana either though (granted I'm generally not all that into romance in games) now that I think about it I didn't really like any of the companion characters except for Sten and Oghren

Hmm. Makes me think I should create a male warden so I can play through Morrigan's romance. I tried it once, but after the sex she was like, "Oh, you're leaving it up to me? No, I don't want to do it anymore. Haha!" I was sort of like, screw it. But if it has more promise than that, I'll try it again.
