Is it just me, or does it seems that spirit healers cleansing aura doesnt work properly? It is healing fine when not in battle but when battle starts it just stops healing and sometimes it evens cancels itself. I think it should be working in battle too, as I haven´t read otherwise anywhere.

Does the mage run out of Mana? if I recall correctly the Cleansing aura does have an upkeep to consider.

It has a fairly steep upkeep if you are using other spells, yeah.

Spell upkeep doesnt matter, since the mana required to sustain the buff is reserved for the buff, so even if you have 0 mana, the buff still has 60 mana reserved it needs to stay active. Its the same as death syphon, warriors shield wall etc.

Thats a normal buff..upkeep constantly drains you in combat...Many sustained abilities do not have upkeep..just the really good ones.

Not to sound like a jerk, but, you are wrong.  What the OP posted earlier is accurate.  All of the sustain abilities have an upkeep but your description of upkeep isn't right.  What the OP said was.

I have noticed the same problem with cleansing aura as well and only use it outside of combat to cleanse injuries.  This makes it good at saving injury kits, but it is does not seem to be working as intended (at least not how the tooltip says it ought to).

Noticed this too. Nothing new to add, just wanted to put my hat in the ring. Chesta is right Krenmu.

Cleansing aura consistently drains mana. I had the same problem with my warrior keeping berserk and indomitable up.

Not to sound like A knowitall but get arcane warrior..turn on Shimmering shield..go into combat..and see if you don't run out of mana.

Some sustained spells drain mana continuously while they are active. Cleansing Aura is one of these.

From the manual:

Once you use a talent or spell marked “sustained,” it remains active either until you disable it or until the ability exhausts all of your character’s stamina or mana. Some sustained abilities are free to use, and thus remain active for as long as you like. Using a sustained ability is tiring, however, and thus imposes a fatigue penalty, which means that each subsequent ability you use simultaneously with that sustained ability requires more stamina or mana. After you deactivate a sustained ability, there is a short cool-down period before you can use it again.

"When active, however, the Shimmering Shield consumes mana rapidly.
"

there is Upkeep and Fatigue costs. Not all sustained have Fatigue costs...

As trh and Guurzak said Cleansing Aura drains mana continuously in combat in addition to it's upkeep. I was really disappointed to find this out after learning it on Wynne, since there's no indication that it is supposed to do so.

This is my one gripe so far with DA, inconsistencies such as this and the way arcane warriors cast spells. This info really needs to be made available to the player, preferably in game on tooltips.

The aura drains mana if it actually heals someone. If everyone is at full hp, the aura can be kept on indefinitely. While aura is handy, it can't keep up with the rate of damage that is likely to be incoming.

The aura is a great AOE heal that goes nicely on top of group heal with spirit healer. The mana cost is steep but that's what mana potions are for :D
