Another reason I'd be slightly annoyed is because I see no reason why it can't be done if they just pick 2-3 characters to bring back, doesn't need to be the whole squad. People will argue "Yeah but they can die blah blah blah" - well, if they die in your game, then you don't get them back. The next argument would be "That's not fair then because you get 12 characters and I only get 8" - well how is that any different to missing characters out all together? There's no reason the rest of the playerbase should suffer just because you didn't keep your squad alive, and in fact I'd quite like the idea of "missing" characters from the selection screen because it'd just hit home the fact I lost that squadie in ME2.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't be severely pissed, though.

1. Cry like a baby
2. Lie on the floor on my stomach and pound my fists on the floor screaming "NO NO NO NO!!!"
3. Get angry and blame Bioware for WWII, the recession, and the BP oil disaster.
4. Never buy a Bioware game again... no... I would never THINK of a bioware game again.
5. I would also get my memory erased so that all good memories of Bioware games would be gone. All I would remember would be ME2 plot holes and the lack of ME2 inventory.
6. I would take Bioware to court for mental and emotional anguish.
7. I would start my own gaming company.
8. I would make games that I think are perfect.
9. After releasing my first game I would slit my own wrists because so many gamers would complain about plot holes and RPG this, and new squadmates that.
10. As my lifeblood drained from me I would realize that maybe ME2/3 was not so bad after all.

Many of the other characters can be kept in the plot more effectively if they don't stay with Shepard. For example, if you leave Cerberus, maybe Miranda stays. Then, maybe Jack goes off to try and kill TIM, maybe Zaeed takes over the Blue Suns again and uses them to help Shepard. Jacob could leave Cerberus with you, but then maybe he rejoins the Alliance or the Corsairs are brought back and he joins them.
Of course, it's pretty dumb if they just reinvent the crew every single game, but they can still keep them in the limelight without needing them with Shepard. There are NPCs from the first two games that I actually feel closer to, or at least more familiar with, than most of the playable crew members. Anderson is the main one, but there are plenty of other NPCs that have actually been developed and/or have more interesting potential than characters like Zaeed or Grunt. The Consort, Shiala, hell, even Conrad but then I guess he'd suck in combat.

It'd be really cool if they made it so you have a set amount of squad openings, say 8 or 10, and all of the surviving squaddies from the first two games were available to be recruited, but because of your limit, you couldn't recruit all of them into your active squad. That'd save them a lot of fan grief!

Hmm, enlighten us? The only Songlian movie character I'm familiar with is the protagonist of Raise The Red Lantern, but I'm not much of a moviegoer, so...

Unless the story is absolutlely brilliant and "connects" everywhere it counts I would see it as them no longer caring to be creative.

I don't know. ME3 is looking, at the moment, to be my last BioWare game - assuming it releases after TOR - and I might put it down as an unconditional buy just for the sake of completion. I would expect to see some new squad members, but I'd also expect a wealth of the old ones to come back.XtremegamerHK47 wrote...
If Bioware decides to create a completly new squad, how many of you would still fully enjoy or buy ME3?
I would honestly reconsider buying it if this happened, what about you guys?
I'd like to see Jacob and Miranda dropped from the roster (they felt like superfluous characters who were there for the sake of being there), along with Thane and most likely Zaeed and Kasumi. Grunt might go back to Tuchanka, and I'm unsure what would happen to Legion. There's certainly reasons why most of your squad could depart, LI or otherwise. The only ones I seriously expect to see in ME3 are Tali and Garrus. Partially because they're from ME1 and ME2, and are both LIs, but because I think Garrus and Tali are now too attached to Shep to be dropped.
So no, I don't think it'll affect my purchase of ME3. And I just went off on a tangent.
I am going to be nice, but this is complete BS.
First Miri won't be droped from the roster because like it or not she is a fan fav. She has alot of fans and has the most loose ends, she is also the hardest to kill, out of all the characters in ME2 she has the best chance coming back.
Plus I just bolded somthing that makes you look like a fool. You just contradicted your self with that and also what do you mean they are attahed to Shep? Not everyone likes Tali or Garrus, if Tali and Garrus are ocming back, then Miri, Thane, Jack and Jacob have to come back. If only Tali and Garrus come back, many of us who don't care about them will feel cheated and make matters worse.
