Vanguard is a true melee class ... considering ME takes place in 22nd century. What sword could possibly beat a shotgun blast from close range?

Seriously? Sword strike can easily be deflected with another sword, or even a wepon. Only shields can save you from a shotgun blast..and once it is gone (immediately, Claymore can one shot any standard enemy), you are dead or at least defenseless.

Melee fighting really just would not mesh well with Mass Effect.

She got Warp Ammo as a loyalty power instead of Biotic Charge.

It'd be kinda cool if for a loyalty power you could get Jack's biotic punch or Kasumi's omnitool beatdown (make it chargeable and able to keep readied like the Geth Shotgun).
