When 1.04 was released it was confirmed that the two items in question were currenlty unable to be patched, which is fine.  But the message was, for me at least, unclear as to whether or not they could be fixed in a future patch for the game.  So can console owners expect to see them fixed sometime in the future or are we just S.O.L.?

nfortunately, we are unable to fix the issues concerning these armor sets and the Vigilance Sword. Due to various limitations surrounding what we can and cannot patch concerning DLC content, very strict limits in the size of console title updates, and the state of some of the assets we attempted to implement, we regret to inform you that these items will not be fixed at this time.

...

Note concerning Silverite Mine, Arl of Denerim’s Estate, and Item issues:  Please accept our apologies. While we wish we could have fixed these issues to the community’s satisfaction, we are unable to do so at this time. As indicated, we realize that none of these workarounds are ideal in any way but regrettably have no other course of action as we have very strict limitations with what we are able and not able to patch, on consoles especially. We have taken into account the root issues related to the implementation of these areas/pieces and will carry it forward in an effort to avoid things like this happening in the future.

Seems pretty clear to me that they can't ever be fixed.  None of the cited reasons they didn't are something that will change, and promising to avoid similar problems in the future while not mentioning fixing this one in the future is pretty telling.

That doesn't mean they will never be fixed. "At this time" never means "never"

I know that several games (Bad company 2, Burnout Paradise) updated their games through free DLC.

They could fix it, it would just mean releasing that patch as a free dlc to get around the stupid size limits MS has for patches. Considering it took almost ten months to get this patch, I have my doubts about future patches unless a dlc really messes things up like RtO did.

Heh...that really sets one's mind at ease. Makes me want to run out and preorder DA2 right now.
