Well, now Garrick is in the runnings for what to call my main character.

Garrick sounds gross IMO, like garlic almost.. or garish.

Actually I usually just go with my first name, not that first names have an impact on the gameplay at all, but William Hawke has kind of a regal feel to it.

Every time I hear Garrick in a video game, all I can think of is the Thief series (may it rest in peace ) Could call it "Lady Hawke" (Michelle Pfeiffer) for a spin on an old movie with Rutger Haue.

With the voice acting, how will the PC Hawke introduce him/her self in the dialogue? In DAO the pc didn't speak so introducing yourself was never voiced, thus no problem for names other than the default. But will there be a pause where the voice actor stops and then picks up again? EX: "Pleased to meet you. My name is __(insert name&no audio)__ Hawke." Cause that breaks my immersion right there if so.

Of course not. I never use default names. Well, the only exception is NIER, but it's not an RPG, it's an action game.
Default names are here for player who don't customize characters at all. And there are small percentage of such players.

I personaly love name Garrett. Not gonna change it. Also it's the first time when I'm more inclined to play a male character over female (except for WoW  gnomes - I love their /lol /cry emotions)

Garrett and Marian Hawke? Honestly?

This more and more sounds like some sort of joke to me.

So DA2 will be 'Pat Garrett hunts Billy the Kid' meets 'Robin Hood, King of Thieves' ?

I want the Antagonist to be named Billy and a LI for Marian called Robin.

Hawke will most likely introduce him/herself the same way Sheperd does it. Surname only.
