Guys, Matthew Fox is 44. If the film takes three years to produce and shoot, he will be 47. If Mass Effect 2 gets the go ahead, he would be pushing 50. I dont think anyones Shepard is that old.
Anyway Femshep all the way baby!
What about Mary Elizabeth Winstead?

Movie based on ME 1, there are at least 4 major plot points that would polarise fans :
1) Rachni Queen
2) Wrex on Virmire
3) Survivor of Virmire
4) Destiny Ascension

heres what will most likely happen
1) Rachni Queen : lives, paragon shep
2) Wrex on virmire: lives, cause really who wants to kill wrex
3) Survivor on virmire: Ashely, as Movie Shep has a high probability of being male and the love interest will service
4) Destiny Ascension: saved by alliance crew, cause of Paragon shep

ok every one i swear i have posted something similar to this in about half of the movie threads i see. and i can believe their arent more people who can see how this movie will run.

Male Shepard, Why you ask? because the majority of people who will see this movie are going to be male, and may not of even played the game, and their arent that many older female action stars out there.

Continuity: ITS GONNA BE BASED ON MASS EFFECT 1!!!, NOT THE FIRST CONTACT WAR NOT ANY **** WITH A SQUAD MATE, ITS GONNA BE MASS EFFECT 1, PARAGON SIDE, BECAUSE FOR THE CASUAL FANS, OR THE PEOPLE WHO HEARD ABOUT THE GAME SECOND HAND WONT UNDERSTAND. REMEMBER THIS MOVIE IS NOT BEING MADE SOLELY FOR THE FANS BECAUSE WE WANT IT, ITS BEING MADE BECAUSE ITS A HOT PROPERTY.

Of course it's going to be ManShep. I won't bother thinking anything else.

And of course, I'd prefer FemShep.

It'll have to be Male Shepard. It is the default Shepard to begin with. Meer's pretty comfortable in his role now so I think he'll do fine if he reprises his VA role.

'No Shepard' for me, too. Focus on other characters in the setting.

If there MUST be a Shepard...how about ManShep and his (long lost) sister, FemShep? :D

Edited Cause it was deleted.. mostly anyways but I missed some, decided not to restart the argument...

I want the movie to be about the first contact war.

Shep being male or female doesnt actually BOTHER me.. assuming the person can act.
I want the BEST actor ever as shepard.

The best actor in my opinion happens to be Vin Diesal... he is Baddass in a can.

If the film contains a shep, it'll be default shep. We all know it'll be default shep. Move away from default shep and you step on the personal conceptions that every player has about their customised Shepard.

Of course, it should be femshep.

And Vin Diesel will just scream Riddick throughout the film, were he to play Shepard. Or in the opening scene, Vin Diesel would ask Joker how quickly the Normandy could travel a quarter of a mile.

Though he would be preferable to the Rock. Please don't let the Rock play Shepard.

No Shepard, I'd say. I think one of the problems with using Shepard is that he/she tends to be our character - They look how we want (Within the confines of the creator, of course), they act in the way we choose, we make their decisions.

If there has to be a Shepard, though, I'd say ManShep. He's the face of the game, the default character used in all the marketing and post-release content. ME2 figure? ManShep. ME2 posters? ManShep. ME posters? ManShep. It's the least "difficult" way for them to do it.

I'd nominate Christian Bale as John Shepard. If the guy can play Batman (amazingly well) twice, then he can do Shepard in both ME and possibly ME2 depending on the reception for the ME movie when it finally arrives.

I hope that instad of a movie ME is made into a miniseries. Too much story for a movie I think. But if it is made into a movie then it'll have to at least be a trilogy. A novel idea I think would to be to recast Shep for each film. I mean I always read about this actor or that being favored because he looks like Shep, but my Shep looks like me. I'm probably not the only player that has a Shep that doesn't look like the default Shep, so recasting Shep for each film would be ingenius I think.

I nominate Burt Reynolds.Image IPB

That's very possibly a good choice - she can do strong female roles but we hardly ever see it... I think Scott Pilgrim's like the only example.   Personally I'm hoping for a performance capture film where they could have a femshep (I vote for mine, haha), and get Jennifer Hale to do the voice, and get a guy to do the physical stuff.  Perfect.

You know I wish they did that for the marketing of these games, but for some reason they thought the customers would be too THICK to understand what was going on....
