The movie shouldn't involve Shepard at all. Instead it needs to be a prequel focusing on Liara and her research of the Protheans.
WE LOVE YOU LIARA!!! XOXOXO
This...Indiana Jones style.

female leads in action/adventure movies dont do so well, unless she is very hot and revealing.
Thats just how it works, action movies appeal to a young male demographic group, and we want a competent indiana jones adventurer, or a busty lara croft
Mmm. Like that disastrous, unpopular movie Aliens...

aliens was a very well done exception. The amount of death and chest bursting made up for the female protagonist, as well as introducing a pop iicon alien that all will remember.

yes but these are all exceptions and they are all being drowned in a sea of male leads, in everything from B movies to hollywood style action blockbusters

Because your male hormones demand that she be less tough than you by flaunting her body every which way and thus cementing the fact that's she's a woman and not to be taken seriously?

We have had enough muscled, gun-toting, shorn-haired, beard/stubbly faced, gravelly-voiced, chiseled and/or scarred men as protaganists to last us until, oh, I don't know, the end of time? Heavy smoking and whiskey drinking not included.

Or intense sarcasm.
I'm not quite sure which, the first wouldn't surprise me. <_<

So your argument is; since there are so few prominent female leads, there shouldn't be any female leads.
