Well  "women are objects to be oggled"  is a very sterotypical l view.

@Erinlana: And it's one that I don't agree with. :)

Didn't you have a whole thread in your group dedicated to "ogling" woman? <_<

While I dunno about that, there is probably also a variant of that thread for the opposite sex no? Please don't turn into the opposite of the people you dislike and start now an anti-male campaign

For me too, the previous was too boring and I didn't get into the series and the dubbing was also terrible (I am hungarian btw)

Now I watch the episodes online and in english and Tennant is just a pure voice/acting genious, while the new guy is not bad Tennant is just too good, I wish he would voice a lot in Bioware games, or perhaps even appear in the movie, he would make a hilarious costumer demandig his credits back, as example

riiiight, that is why majority of the posters here who don't want a male shep are females themself :?

Oh, its just an old writing trope. It's safer to write male protaganists because women are more willing to read a story with a male lead than men will accept a female hero.

Don't know how true that is today but I think males playing female characters in a video game is a dfferent animal.

There is a whole universe to explore and write stories for it, and the actual ME fans would probably prefer to see/hear about parts of the world or history of the races that was not in the games, and that the movie is not just a retelling of what you already know and of which you can tell the storyline with closed eyes

I don't think Commander Shepard will be in the movie. Drew Karpyshyn said, "We don't want to write books about Shepard, because that's the player's story." I take it that works both ways with movies. It's our story, we make the choices. I assume the movie would be about something else, maybe the first contact war or something.

I would prefer entirelly new characters, a new ship and crew, and just a few cameo appearances or rumors about the team of ME, perhaps giving characters which just appear in ME2 more screentime, like Mordin or Thane, about their time prior to ME2

Consider it something like how Star Trek has in one setting Enterprise, Voyager, Deep Space 9, and all that other stuff whish is not even Federation related. A movie about ME doesn't have to be about the game.

Sadly I think Drew Karpyshyn might be dissappointed. Didn't they sell the rights for ME1, specifically?

I don't think there should be a Shepard either, but it will probably be male. With that said, I think they should use a different race entirely, like the quarians. Thenyou could cast anyone because a face is not needed for a quarian. They never show anyone there faces that I have seen(other than Shepard and Tali's romance scene).

LMAO! At the ppl saying Liara should get the movie for herself. WTF! Have we played the same game?! I really like Liara but she hasn't done anything. Go back and play ME1! Even she says she didn't do much of anything besides unearth ruins, reading books, etc, etc. That run in with the Geth at the Dig Site was her first real action. I'm sorry, but I don't want to see 2 hours of Liara reading books and digging stuff up. That's what Discovery channel is for.

I think the movie will follow Shepard. The reason I say this is because people that know the game know the "face" of Shep more than anyone. It also gives them the ability to craft an actual stoyline and with an overwhelming enemy. I am guessing like the games the movies will be part of a tri too. Also by making the movie about Shep they can use all of the prequel cannon to make a prequel game. That is how most companies do it as we all know. Put out a trilogy or so and then make a prequel. That seems to be the HW and VG formula. In any case, I wouldn't mind seeing Shep do his thing. They could also make it to where there are multiple characters that will be followed through the movie.

+1 Male Shepard

Oh I know. I am just pointing out some of the errors in why her being the lead would not work

Yeah...I don't want Shepard involved in this movie. He will be...but he shouldn't be.

That being said, if I'm being force to pick, I'm going to go MaleShep for the win.

I think it would be best if the movie didn't follow Shep as well. The books did a fantastic job of tying in with the overall story of the games while at the same time telling their own, self contained stories.

I would rather have the story follow a character like Anderson or Grayson. Sometimes I wonder if all the Cerberus news posts are setting the stage for the movie or Mass Effect 3. In any case, they made the smart choice in leaving Shepard to the games in regards to the books. I hope they do the same with the movie.

Yeah but they battled against enemies, action, adventure, etc, etc. Liara did none of that. She rarely had interaction with people and spent her time immersed in the prothean tech. Not very adventurous. Now if she did do a bunch of adventurous stuff like the above mentioned, than I would be all for a movie about her. But that is not the case.

Obviously MaleShep.Out of all the RPG characters Shepard is one of the "has-to-be-male" ones.
