Uh, where does the unmovable barrier come into this? This is two irresistible forces hitting each other.

To all the "paradox"-type comments. How is it a paradox? It's like if two missiles flew into each other, or two planes collided in mid-air.

The only alternative is that one of the Ardat-Yakshi dies slightly before the other one and so the other one survives. It depends if you can survive once the whole thing is set in motion - like if two people shoot at each other at nearly the same time, one shoots just as the bullet is about to kill him. He dies before his bullet reaches the other guy but the other guy still gets hit and dies, rather than the bullet just falling out of the air with no momentum.

OK, has anyone considered that...nothing happens? I.e., that their whacked-out nervous systems may prevent them from melding with one another at all. For instance, it could be that the condition, once manifested, makes it impossible for them to be on the receiving side of the link. In the absence traumatic brain injuries or neurodegenerative conditions, that alone could even be diagnostic of A-Y Syndrome.

I see the condition as an evolutionary response to the Asari's obsession with outside-breeding.

The Asari may see it as a good thing, but I wouldnt be surprised if it was actually slowly weakening them.

They probably wouldn't in the first place, because both are likely vampiric serial killers and (I estimate) would be able identify each other and either kill or avoid each other. Barring that, I vote nothing, because they're sterile.
