Follow the directions from microsoft found on its consumer help site just copy paste this url and you should be able to play immediatly do not download the thing it offers as it is useless just follow the steps.
It worked for me because a security setting in the background kept the game from functioning.
XXXXXWARNINGXXXXXXX this does involve you turning off all background programs including ones related to security but you should be fine and the programs can be turned back on easily if you just read the bottom part of the help article as it tells you to set the stuff back. If this doesnt help then it is likely a hardware issue and that would require some more drastic measures.
GOOD LUCK it worked for me and i hope it works for you, this is probably the most usefull advice you recieve related to making the game function as other people on this thread are extremly unhelpful and are just flat out rude so you might as well try this to see if you can make ME2 or ME1 work.
